During this year’s European elections as well, IVU.elect was an essential instrument in supporting the election authorities of both countries at all stages of the election process. The system facilitates the administration of the candidates and parties during the preparation stage, helps to create lists and election materials and simplifies the registration process for eligible voters. The software can also be used to organise election workers and polling sites with ease. Early prognoses on yesterday-s voting eve as to which delegates would be representing Germany in European Parliament were also made possible with IVU.elect. The election system allows users to quickly combine results at various administrative levels (from local to national), to calculate the distribution of seats and to create projections of the data. Automatic plausibility checks and logging procedures increase transparency and help to avoid any errors.
Due to its intentionally flexible structure, IVU.elect can be easily adapted to the specific needs of various countries and voting systems. This is why the system has already been employed during earlier elections in Germany and the Netherlands even before the European elections. Germany has relied on the Berlin-based company since 2002 for all of its national parliamentary elections. IVU also assists in the regional elections in the federal states of Bavaria and Saarland. The Netherlands have relied on the IVU.elect system since 2009 and have used it for the European election, for parliamentary and communal elections, for the Provincial States, and for the Senate election of 2011. Most recently, the local elections in Munich were successfully conducted with IVU.elect last March.
