TORONTO, ONTARIO — (Marketwired) — 12/12/13 — IT projects are mostly late and over budget, according to the , conducted by , the leading provider of enterprise Requirements Definition and Management (RDM) software. The majority of the CIOs and IT leaders polled for the survey said that on average, their IT projects are delivered late, while only 11 percent reported that their IT projects -regularly- meet their original budget.
Designed to help CIOs and IT leaders better understand issues and challenges on the agenda for 2014, the also found that 70 percent of respondents rank improving IT software project delivery among their top three priorities for 2014. One-third of the survey respondents identified doing a better job of delivering applications that meet business needs as a top priority in the software/application development lifecycle for 2014.
“Corporations are increasingly depending on business applications for their sustainability, and this has not gone unnoticed by IT leaders. But as the profile of the IT project rises higher and higher, several red flags are emerging that IT leaders need to address, and one of them is the inability of projects to adhere to budgets,” says Dan Shimmerman, Blueprint CEO. “Old habits die hard, but if IT leaders can focus on resolving their project delivery issues now, they will be better positioned for project success in 2014 and beyond.”
