PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL and MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA — (Marketwired) — 12/12/13 — The FIDO (Fast IDentity Online) Alliance, an industry consortium revolutionizing online authentication with the first standards-based specifications, and Sonavation (), creators of the world-s most advanced biometric authentication platform and applications leveraging advanced ultrasound imaging technologies and patented data encryption methodologies, today announced that the company has joined the FIDO Alliance. As a FIDO Alliance sponsor member, Sonavation will work with fellow members including Google, LG Electronics, Lenovo, MasterCard, and PayPal, and Goldman Sachs to eliminate pins and passwords, reduce online fraud, and safeguard personal data, transactions, and identity with its patented deep tissue ultrasound imaging sensors and advanced data encryption technologies.
Sonavation is committed to developing integrated and unbreakable identification and authentication solutions with its patented Ultrasound Biometric technology. By reading not just the surface fingerprint of the user but also a dynamic, deep tissue and vascular map of the fingertip, Sonavation will provide a 100 percent secure, one-to-one match of the individual with its sensors across a number of form factors including smartphones, smartcards, access control systems, and more. Sonavation is involved with the FIDO Alliance to ensure that universal authentication methods are interoperable, secure, private and easy-to-use while also allowing the interaction of new and existing authentication technologies within a single infrastructure.
“As a pioneer and leader in advanced, deep tissue ultrasound imaging and break through transactional encryption technologies, Sonavation is proud to join the prestigious FIDO Alliance and collaborate with some of the world-s leading technologists in the interest of making the digital world a safer place for everyone,” said Robert E. Stewart, Sr., Chief Product Officer from Sonavation. “By working collectively towards open standards and the integration of our patented ultrasound imaging and encryption platform across industry boundaries, we expect to help chart a path that benefits both consumers and our industry partners.”
Open FIDO specifications will support a full range of authentication technologies, including biometrics such as fingerprint and iris scanners, voice and facial recognition, as well as existing solutions and communications standards, such as Trusted Platform Modules (TPM), USB Security Tokens, embedded Secure Elements (eSE), Smart Cards, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), and Near Field Communication (NFC). The open specifications are being designed to be extensible and to accommodate future innovation, as well as protect existing investments. FIDO specifications allow the interaction of technologies within a single infrastructure, enabling security options to be tailored to the distinct needs of each user and organization.
“We welcome Sonavation, and their insight and spirit of innovation to our growing Alliance,” said Michael Barrett, FIDO Alliance president. “The FIDO vision of universal strong authentication promises to reduce online fraud, and Sonavation-s advances can contribute. Sonavation joins the FIDO Alliance in support of an important goal for our industry: creating better authentication that is more secure, private and easy to use.”

The FIDO (Fast IDentity Online) Alliance, , was formed in July 2012 to address the lack of interoperability among strong authentication technologies, and remedy the problems users face with creating and remembering multiple usernames and passwords. The Alliance plans to change the nature of authentication by developing standards-based specifications for better authentication that define an open, scalable, interoperable set of mechanisms that reduce reliance on passwords. Better authentication is stronger, private, and easier to use when authenticating to online services.
