Load Impact Ships Chrome Extension for User Session Recording

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — (Marketwired) — 12/05/13 — Load Impact today released a new Google Chrome extension that lets developers create user session recordings — crucial for websites, apps and APIs — with just a couple of clicks inside the open browser tab instead of from their account dashboard at loadimpact.com.

Load testing, also commonly called , makes it possible to see the performance impact on a website, app or API, as the number of users and their geographic locations are increased. The test results allow developers to anticipate when their work will fail and fix bottlenecks before they impact users.

are used to simulate real user traffic patterns.

“Until now our session recorder required developers to go to our website and manually change the proxy settings in the browser or operating system to perform a recording,” said Ragnar Lönn, Load Impact founder and CEO. “That was a bit of a hassle, and the proxy solution sometimes caused problems with SSL certificates. Our new Chrome extension now automates the entire process from recording traffic in a specific browser tab, to stopping, saving and sending the scrip to their Load Impact account for future use.”

Most developers want to run multiple, different user session scripts simultaneously because not all users are doing the same things as the same time. With Load Impact developers can run up to 10 different users scenarios in each load test, simulating up to 100,000 concurrent users. And only Load Impact allows them to run the multiple user scenarios simultaneously from up to 10 different geographic regions in a single test.

“We capture everything — every single thing being loaded into the browser as the user clicks — including ads, style sheets, java scripts, images — everything, so you get a far more accurate read of what-s going on,” said Lönn.

With offices in San Francisco, Stockholm-based Load Impact offers an On-Demand service for performance testing, and recently began accepting applications for early access to the new Load Impact service, which for the first time allows developers to make stress testing an integrated part of their continuous delivery process.

Continuous Delivery is a recent development methodology increasingly used to automate and deliver software to a high standard and rapidly, reliably and repeatedly release enhancements and bug fixes at low risk and with minimal manual overhead.

Load Impact-s new Chrome extension for user session recording is available free of charge from the Google Chrome Web Store and is easily ported to the Safari and Opera browsers. An extension for the Firefox browser is planned for release early next year.

Load Impact-s on-demand services detect, predict, and analyze performance problems — providing the information businesses need to proactively optimize their websites, apps and APIs for customers. With its roots in work for NASDAQ and the European Space Agency, the Stockholm-based company has been redefining load testing since 2011 by making it cost-effective, instantly available, automated, and very easy to use.
