The program is managed by California Manufacturing Technology Consulting (CMTC), which is affiliated with the National Institute of Standards and Technology-s (NIST) Hollings Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP). CMTC works closely with manufacturers to help them compete at a higher level. LightPointe, which moved production of its products into facilities in San Diego-s Sorrento Valley, manufactures point-to-point outdoor used by telecom carriers, businesses, schools, government agencies, and other organizations to transmit data or digital video at up to 2.5 Gbps. The need for handling huge amounts of data recently led LightPointe to record breaking revenues.
