MONTREAL, QUEBEC — (Marketwired) — 11/19/13 — It is with great pride that Lexum celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.
Lexum began operations in 1993 in the context of a collaboration between the Centre de recherche en droit public, Faculty of Law, University of Montreal and the Supreme Court of Canada for the publication of the court-s decisions on the Internet. From that point in time Lexum evolved into the main provider of Canadian legal information over the Internet. Over the years Lexum had the opportunity to provide a wide range of consulting, design, development, hosting and support services to major Canadian legal institutions, including the Courts Administration Service (CAS), the Department of Justice of Canada, the Federation of Law Societies of Canada to name a few.
Beyond Canada-s borders, Lexum develops solutions and provides long-term support services to several governments and international organizations such as the Ministry of Legal Affairs of Guyana, the International Telecommunication Union or the International Trade Centre.
The most famous Lexum activity is probably the services that the company offers to the Canadian Legal Information Institute (CanLII) for the design, development and ongoing operation of the website.
An interactive timeline has been posted online to provide an overview of the path followed by Lexum over the past 20 years:
