The demand for mobile apps has surged as adoption of mobile devices has accelerated both at home and at the office. Industry forecasts show the global installed base of smartphones and tablets exceeding that of desktops and notebooks this year (Source: Morgan Stanley Research).
Only 16 percent of the eBusiness professionals participating in Forrester Research-s Global Maturity Online Survey do not have a mobile app, and eighty-eight percent of those surveyed either have or plan to have native applications for iOS by the end of 2013, and 74 percent either have or plan to have native applications for Android. Forrester comments that “Building native applications, especially in their native languages, is challenging: Developers must learn not only mobile best practices but also new programming languages.”
“We established the SVBA Awards to encourage developers to adopt and share best practices as they strive to make business apps that are both productive and engaging,” said Vikas Sharan, Regalix Chief Executive Officer. “In addition to highlighting the success of the winners, we designed the event to be a venue for developers and businesses to collaborate and share ideas that will advance the industry.”
