The HOAs came to Iveda Solutions through Southern Audio, a security integrator serving small-to-medium-sized businesses and homeowners associations in the southeastern region of the United States.
The initial opportunity includes 67 IvedaXpress-hosted cameras, and Iveda Solutions expects to bring one or more HOAs into its “cloud” each week for the foreseeable future.
IvedaXpress is Iveda Solutions- cloud video hosting service that utilizes plug-and-play IP (Internet Protocol) cameras. As it implies, camera installation is simple and requires only power and an Internet connection. IvedaXpress can also provide cloud hosting for existing closed-circuit (CCTV) cameras by using encoders or converters.
According to Southern Audio, there has been a growing demand from both existing and new HOAs for video surveillance at the entrances of gated communities.
Southern Audio selected Iveda Solutions- cloud video hosting service for its existing and new HOA customers in order to manage video surveillance without the need to install and maintain a local DVR (digital video recorder). Video access is simplified using a single web interface. They can watch live or recorded footage right from their smartphones if needed. Any evidence can be sent via email to the local police without the hassle of needing to physically retrieve data from the DVR at the site.
Typically, gated communities hire security guards to manage access to the properties and to ensure that all persons entering the communities are authorized to do so. However, security guard services can be quite expensive for homeowners and their community associations.
Likewise, traditional video security systems can be cost-prohibitive for HOAs that often operate under tight budget parameters. In addition to the surveillance cameras, HOAs need to invest in servers, software, and sometimes proprietary monitoring equipment. These systems are also burdened with the costs of equipment and software maintenance. Remote viewing and retrieval of recorded video footage can be cumbersome not only for the HOA managers, but also for the integrators that support the surveillance systems in the field. As a result, many communities are left vulnerable to trespassers, burglars, and other undesirable elements.
