AUSTIN, TX — (Marketwired) — 11/06/13 — Apogee, the nation-s largest provider of managed residential network (ResNet) services to higher education, today announced that it has been selected to manage the growing residential network (ResNet) demands of Midwestern State University, Huntington University, Navarro College, Slippery Rock University, and the University of Nebraska Omaha. Apogee has partnered with these institutions to provide some or all of the following services — wired and wireless internet connectivity, cable television, and Voice over IP (VoiP) — to their on-campus residence halls.
These five universities have brought on board ResNet provider Apogee at a time when student connectivity demand has risen dramatically. Every year, students bring more and more bandwidth-devouring mobile devices to school. According to OnlineColleges.net, 41 percent of college students have three or more devices connected to the internet at any given time. Devices such as tablets, computers, laptops, smartphones, wireless printers, iPods, gaming systems, e-readers and smart TVs are now the new normal back-to-school tools.
“Across the country, universities are grappling with rising student expectations for fast, wireless and unlimited internet connectivity while juggling limited IT budgets,” said Dr. Michael Mills, Director of Housing and Dining Services, Midwestern State University. “We are very pleased to have found a trusted and proven ResNet partner in Apogee. Within three months, MWSU was able to promptly set up our wireless network to meet current student demands. We are now fully set up to smoothly scale our network as our students- needs evolve.”
Apogee will provide ResNet services to the following universities:
