DELRAY BEACH, FL — (Marketwired) — 11/06/13 — Protext Mobility (OTCQB: TXTM) (“Protext Mobility”) or the (“Company”), a solutions developer of innovative and trusted applications to the mobile communications market today announced it has completed the development and testing of its new DriveAlert solution aimed at combating Distracted Driving using “OBD-II Dongle” technology. As previously announced, the new solution will be a premium subscription based model consisting of a monthly service fee, smartphone application download and a plug-in On-Board Diagnostic (OBDII) device that works on post 1996 model year vehicles for communicating speed via Bluetooth to the smartphone. In addition, the Company completed updates required for the latest version of Android 4.3 OS for its entire suite of consumer and enterprise mobile solutions.
Simply put, once downloaded and the vehicle is in motion, the DriveAlert smartphone solution acts like a lock box on the device, launching automatically and blocking certain functions including texting, web-browsing, emailing, photo- and video-taking, as well as blocking certain social-sharing applications that utilize these functions. The solution also sends customized auto-replies to any incoming texts, and sends in-coming calls to voicemail, as well as allows the driver the ability to dial 911 in an emergency. Other advanced features are bundled and included as part of the monthly service, along with a web-enabled dashboard reporting tool.
Steve Berman — CEO, commented, “We are pleased to have completed the development and testing of what we envision to be a critical solution aimed at curbing the mass epidemic of distracted driving and resulting injuries and damage that stem from these incidences. Recent media coverage has risen sharply regarding an alarming new and dangerous trend of drivers taking “selfie” photos and/or videos of themselves while behind the wheel of a moving vehicle. The problem is not just drivers taking a picture and/or video of themselves, but also the ensuing activity and process that takes place soon afterward when that driver then uploads the content to popular photo- and video-sharing sites, and commonly includes captions and an array of hash-tags — all while driving. Our solution addresses these new and escalating mobile distractions by blocking the functions and applications that put drivers and innocent public on the road at risk.”
He continued, “As mentioned in our last update to shareholders, we have been working towards executing distribution agreements with various partners representing multiple vertical markets including insurance, higher education, automotive, transportation, independent mobile retailers, just to name a few. We firmly believe there is a significant market opportunity within these industries and others, for our Distracted Driving solutions that address the continued and growing epidemic of distracted driving.
The Company continues to actively engage with technology experts in the mobile application market and pursue a variety of Sales and Technology leads. As part of the global efforts of addressing Distracted Driving, Protext Mobility continues to engage in talks with business entities in Canada and Latin America for potential partnerships of distribution. We look forward to updating the public, our shareholders and the greater investment community on our progress in the areas of both technology development as well as sales and distribution in the time ahead.”
