THOUSAND OAKS, CA — (Marketwired) — 10/31/13 — Xirrus, the leader in high-performance , today announced the findings of the “2013 State of the Stadium Technology Survey” released by Mobile Sports Report (MSR), in conjunction with the Sports & Entertainment Alliance in Technology (SEAT) Consortium, providing an insightful snapshot of how sports teams and arenas deploy technology. The report compiled responses from more than 50 arenas that host the top professional league teams, including the NFL, Major League Baseball, the NBA, the NHL, as well as top university facilities for basketball and football, European and U.S. professional soccer teams, professional golf, and car-racing venues. The report-s findings validate Xirrus-s assertion that advanced technologies, especially those involving wireless communications, are the key to an enhanced fan experience and a larger roster of business opportunities for stadium owners and operators.
The “2013 State of the Stadium Technology Survey” covered technologies deployed in stadium environments, including Wi-Fi, distributed antenna systems (DAS), CRM, social media and digital marketing. The report found:

34.9 percent of stadiums offer “High quality Wi-Fi to all (fan) seating areas”
35.7 percent of stadiums offer Wi-Fi at download or upload speeds greater than 5 Mbps
88.9 percent of stadiums that provide Wi-Fi offer it for free
“The -2013 State of the Stadium Technology Survey- recognizes that sporting events and concerts are no longer just about filling seats,” said Bruce Miller, vice president of product marketing at Xirrus. “Stadiums are anticipating and responding to fans- expectation of streaming live video directly from the concert floor, checking player statistics, or posting comments to their Facebook page. As a company, we continue to improve the fan experience with the most efficient and cost-effective Wi-Fi solutions that make fans feel like VIPs.”
