The SPAWAR paper, titled “Performance of a 40 GHz RF photonic balanced link using a polarization modulator,” discusses a solution based on Optelian-s Versawave polarization modulator. The paper-s authors believe the solution is the first achievement of an end-to-end system Noise Figure < 28 dB at 40 GHz for a multi-octave RF photonic link, enabling optical system flexibility not seen before.
