First introduced in Fall 2012 to the U.S. market, MidoNet is a distributed, decentralized, multi-layer software-defined network virtualization solution specifically designed for Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS). MidoNet-s network virtualization overlay now offers Layer 2 (L2) gateway integration, which allows network engineers to connect bare-metal servers to the overlay network. For customers that need to connect virtual and physical networks, MidoNet-s software-based gateway provides the necessary integration and ultimately a migration path for the future. Now, customers can build a fully featured IaaS cloud with fully virtualized and distributed scale-out networking, while enabling existing physical servers to participate in the network overlay.
