Cloudera and QlikTech Partner With Paxata to Offer Customers Adaptive Data Preparation Built for Business Analysts

NEW YORK, NY — (Marketwired) — 10/29/13 — STRATA — At the Strata Conference + Hadoop World 2013, Paxata launched the first self-service Adaptive Data Preparation platform that lets business analysts rapidly collect, explore, transform, and combine data, announced partnerships with Cloudera, the leader in enterprise analytic data management powered by Apache Hadoop, and QlikTech, a leader in user-driven Business Intelligence (BI). These partnerships focus on giving business users the power to access and iterate all the data they need as rapidly as new queries emerge, extracting the most value from every analytic exercise. This announcement comes on the heels of Paxata-s public unveiling yesterday at THE Strata Conference + Hadoop World in New York.

“We are always excited when our customers can quickly see value from the data they collect,” said Tim Stevens, vice president, Business and Corporate Development, Cloudera. “Paxata will give our customers new ways to streamline the delivery of their original source data to a broader range of non-technical users, in a flexible structure that can be understood and exploited by today-s business intelligence tools.”

“QlikTech-s QlikView continues to revolutionize the business intelligence industry by making data an actionable and natural part of how people decide and act,” said Peter McQuade, vice president of global alliances at QlikTech. “We believe Paxata has the same opportunity to revolutionize the information management industry by automating and streamlining data preparation, collaboration, and emerging governance. It-s a win-win for our customers, and we look forward to delivering an integrated solution.”

Paxata is a cloud-based, self-service solution powered by breakthrough technologies including semantic algorithms, distributed computing techniques and a highly interactive visual experience. Paxata-s platform lets users adapt and enrich data sets on the fly, give peers visibility and collaboration controls as needed, and retain historical context of how data is shaped and prepared over time.

“While there has been significant innovation in data management and next gen data discovery, the business analysts, who sit between those technology sets, have longed for innovative solutions that accelerate their data integration, enrichment and quality work,” explained Prakash Nanduri, co-founder and CEO of Paxata. “Paxata will be to data preparation what Cloudera is to data management and QlikTech is to data discovery, which is why we are thrilled to partner with these two leaders.”

Paxata-s Adaptive Data Preparation platform allows business people to:

: Bring in data regardless of format (Excel, Flat Files, Relational Databases, XML, JSON) and Paxata will automatically parse and identify the meaning of the data. Leveraging our powerful semantic engine, Paxata will then recommend additional firmographic, demographic and social data based on the context of your analytics.

: Engage in completely ad-hoc interactive exploration with full-text search, interactive textual and numeric filters and histograms, and visual data quality heat maps highlighting errors, duplicates and missing data.

: Leverage pre-built functionality to split columns, concatenate, de-duplicate, detect and remediate blanks and other errors on the fly, without any scripting, SQL, or complex Excel functionality like VLOOKUPS, pivot tables and macros.

: Automatically detect common attributes across multiple data sets, join them into a single view, and merge multiple entity references into a single, trusted master entity.

: Live Query final data sets from QlikView, Tableau, Excel, and any other ODBC-compliant analytics tool for completely seamless interoperability. Alternatively, export as flat file.

: Work simultaneously with peers on data sets without a pre-determined workflow. In addition, the Paxata Data Time Machine is the industry-s first cloud-based data governance solution, providing security, versioning and usage visibility.

Paxata-s native multi-tenant cloud platform is powered by:

An event-driven, WebSocket-powered HTML5 visual user experience that is symmetric across all devices, such as desktop web browsers, tablets, and smart phones.

A rich set of pre-built data preparation services automated by proprietary machine learning, latent semantic indexing, statistical pattern recognition and text analytics techniques.

An elastic, in-memory data preparation engine that is completely model-free and operates over a large variety and volumes of structured and unstructured data in real-time, enabled by a vector query processor with columnar data storage.

A comprehensive governance backbone with time-stamping and versioning of all data modifications at a tenant, user and cell level.

Virtualized, highly reliable infrastructure built on OpenStack technology running in Rackspace-s SSAE 16 certified data centers.

In addition, Paxata-s Adaptive Data Preparation platform can be deployed on VMWare® VCloud environments.

At the Strata Conference, Howard Dresner, a leading expert in Business Intelligence, will host a panel discussion with Paxata-s co-founder and CEO Prakash Nanduri, Luca Barone from Cisco, Charles Zedlewski from Cloudera, Timothy Weaver from Dannon and John Garris from UBS on Wednesday, October 30 at 3:45 pm in the Regent Parlor.
