FREMONT, CA — (Marketwired) — 10/21/13 — . (NASDAQ: IKAN), a leading provider of advanced broadband semiconductor and software products for the digital home, today announced that it will be showcasing its next-generation DSL platform — designed to support the G.fast protocol — at Broadband World Forum in Amsterdam, October 22-24. G.fast represents the next performance node in the evolution of the DSL standard, defined to support gigabit rates over standard copper lines. The new Ikanos Neos architecture leverages the company-s state-of-the-art ultra-low-power analog technology to create market-leading power-per-port performance, while achieving the gigabit data-rate requirements outlined in the impending G.fast standard specification. In addition, this new architecture is designed with unique features that ensure high transmission reliability and line stability in high-data-rate vectored environments.
Earlier this year Ikanos demonstrated its performance leadership by achieving an aggregate data rate of 150Mbps at a distance of 500 meters in a 192-port DSLAM configuration, as validated in multiple OEM and carrier lab trials. Additionally, the company had demonstrated 300Mbps aggregate performance at 200 meters ideal for short-loop FTTdp deployments. With the introduction of its next-generation G.fast capable platform, Ikanos is once again establishing its technology leadership, with an architecture that is designed to support all the CPE and CO requirements in the G.fast specification, including line-power, VDSL2 fallback, and G.vector, configurable as single or multi-port. With the Neos architecture, and the ensuing CPE and CO products, Ikanos- product portfolio will span the full range of FTTx deployments with industry-leading rate-reach performance, as well as scalability in distance, throughput, and port-count.
As consumer demand for higher bandwidth continues its rapid growth, the emergence of G.fast enables telcos to leverage the existing copper infrastructure and deliver on the promise of gigabit connectivity, without having to burden themselves with the large capital expenditures typical of FTTH deployments. Today-s announcement by Ikanos once again puts the company at the forefront of DSL technology to drive the adoption and implementation of the G.fast standard, and to empower global carriers with state-of-the-art gigabit broadband capabilities.
“The introduction of our next-generation G.fast platform is a testament to Ikanos- commitment to advancements in DSL technology and to our dedication to driving the industry forward while bringing innovative and differentiated products to our customers,” said Omid Tahernia, president and CEO at Ikanos. “To us G.fast is not simply the next step in the evolution of the DSL standard. G.fast enables the realization of a vision where hybrid fiber-copper networks turn the promise of gigabit broadband into reality for telcos, effectively eliminating the need for costly FTTH deployments. While Ikanos has been at the forefront of driving the G.fast standardization efforts and is a strong advocate of standards compliancy and interoperability, we have maintained our focus on innovation and believe our G.fast family of products will bring unique and differentiated power profiles and robust transmission features to our customers, putting Ikanos in a leading position as the industry adopts the new standard.”
Ikanos will be showcasing its next-generation G.fast development platform at Broadband World Forum 2013, held Oct 22-24, in Amsterdam. Prototype availability is scheduled for the second quarter of 2014.

Forward-looking statements address matters that involve risks and uncertainties. Accordingly, there are or will be important factors that could cause our actual results to differ materially from those indicated in these statements. We believe that these factors include, but are not limited to, the following: whether we can timely and fully develop a product portfolio that can span the full range of FTTx deployments with industry leading rate-reach performance, that is scalable in distance, throughput, and port-count; whether our G.fast products will be unique and provide differentiated power profiles, robust transmission features, and able to place us in a leading position; our ability to deliver full production releases of our newer products; the acceptance of our new products by our customers and telecommunications service providers; macroeconomic conditions which may cause our customers to defer purchasing plans or cancel any purchasing plans altogether despite successful design wins; the continued demand by telecommunications service providers for our specific xDSL semiconductor products; the failure of telecommunications service providers to implement deployment plans on schedule, or at all, despite increased performance results; our ability to generate demand and close transactions for the sale of our products; competition in the markets in which we operate; and the fact that the products we sell may not satisfy shifting customer demand or compete successfully with our competitors- products. For a more detailed discussion of how these and other risks and uncertainties could cause our actual results to differ materially from those indicated in our forward-looking statements, see our reports filed with SEC (available at ), including our Annual Report on Form 10-K for the fiscal year ended December 30, 2012 and our Quarterly Report on Form 10-Q for the fiscal quarter ended March 31, 2013.
