Puppet Labs Announces Puppet Enterprise 3.1

With this release, Puppet Enterprise gains new and enhanced capabilities that make the management of complex IT infrastructure easier and more agile.

New in Puppet Enterprise 3.1 is the event inspector, an interactive reporting tool that allows system administrators to visualize IT infrastructure changes at a glance. Moreover, with the event inspector, they get instant, actionable insight to troubleshoot and resolve issues, reducing the risk of downtime and accelerating time to resolution.

Also new in Puppet Enterprise 3.1 is expanded support for major enterprise IT platforms, including Google Compute Engine and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4.0 as well as powerful capabilities for advanced users.

Puppet Enterprise 3.1 adds GCE to existing support for Amazon Web Services and VMware cloud platforms.

Powerful new capabilities for advanced users: Puppet Enterprise 3.1 offers advanced capabilities for power users, including support for rebooting Windows after package installation, and discoverable and configurable classes and parameters from within the Puppet Enterprise GUI console.

Expanded support for enterprise platforms: The addition of support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 4.0 builds on Puppet Labs- commitment to support platforms critical to enterprise IT, joining a long list that includes RHEL 5.0 and 6.0, as well as Microsoft Windows, AIX, Solaris, Debian, Ubuntu and others.
