SAN FRANCISCO, CA — (Marketwired) — 09/30/13 — , Inc., a leader in diagramming and business graphics applications, will announce the release of Gliffy Confluence Plugin 6.0 at the annual Atlassian Summit. The Gliffy Plugin is the top paid add-on for diagramming in the Atlassian Marketplace, allowing teams to “think it, draw it and share it” with other colleagues, team members, departments and organizations. Most people are visual learners; a recent study by the U.S. Federal Government suggested that up to 83% of human learning occurs visually. The study also indicated that information that is visually communicated is retained up to six times greater than information that is communicated by spoken word alone.
“With this release, Gliffy continues to lead the market in ease-of-use diagramming, improving the user experience and simplifying the presentation of complex concepts,” said co-founder and CEO of Gliffy, Chris Kohlhardt. “We believe that Gliffy makes information more tangible, concrete and actionable, which leads to improved understanding, and better decisions and business results. We-re thrilled to be a part of the Atlassian ecosystem at this week-s event.”
Gliffy Confluence Plugin 6.0 now lets customers use their own SVG (vector based) shapes as well as create their own symbol libraries from any image or graphic. Users can organize and manage their shape libraries, start diagramming from a library of templates or use a prior diagram. Other new features include the ability to create multi-lines of text and to place them anywhere on diagram lines. In addition, libraries have been refreshed to include Amazon Web Services and additional sitemap shapes.
“Gliffy is one of the longest-standing and the top paid add-on in the Atlassian Marketplace,” said Nick Wade, group manager of Atlassian Marketplace. “The Marketplace offers unique add-ons to Atlassian products that solve more of our customers problems quickly and efficiently. Gliffy offers excellent diagramming functions for Confluence, and we-re excited to have them at our annual Summit this week.”
Gliffy Confluence Plugin 6.0 includes UML 2.0 compliant shapes. UML 2 advances the successful UML specification, the accepted standard for specifying, documenting and visualizing software systems. Moreover, because Gliffy diagrams can live behind the firewall, diagrams are further safeguarded from malware and secure from competitive eyes. This version of the Plugin supports Internet Explorer 9.0 or higher; users of IE 8.x or earlier can continue to use Gliffy Confluence Plugin 5.4.
Gliffy is significant for organizations as it unites Mac and Windows users such as engineers, developers, project managers and designers who are no longer tethered to or siloed by desktop applications that are not cross-platform. Instead, Gliffy works in all modern web browsers bridging the platform gap. Plus, Gliffy can import and edit Visio drawings. Now companies have a diagramming tool that is more cost effective and platform agnostic.
“Gliffy is a great tool to create various types of diagrams in our Confluence Wiki-intensive culture, where we collaborate on everything from network diagrams to workflow processes to decision models,” said Jim O-Neill, Chief Information Officer at HubSpot. “Gliffy is self-service and lightweight, with minimal tax on our IT organization, and works in the browsers of our HubSpotter-s choice across Mac and Windows.”
Gliffy Confluence Plugin 6.0 will be released to the Atlassian Marketplace and OnDemand during Atlassian Summit 2013 and available shortly thereafter. It can be installed as a Confluence add-on either behind a client-s firewall or through OnDemand and hosted by Atlassian. Anyone who has permission to update the wiki page can also update the diagram. Only a browser is required so there is no need for extra desktop software or third party browser plugins such as Adobe Flash. Remote users can simply log into the wiki website and start drawing.
