SAN FRANCISCO, CA — (Marketwired) — 09/24/13 — ORACLE OPENWORLD — Oracle (NYSE: ORCL)
The integration of Nimbula Director into Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud will enable customers and service providers to deploy an open, standards-based Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) foundation with proven breakthrough application performance for Java, Oracle Fusion Middleware and Oracle Applications. This highly scalable, self-healing and resilient cloud infrastructure will scale from a single Oracle Exalogic rack to thousands of virtual machines and many racks. Leveraging OpenStack and other open industry standards, Oracle Exalogic will deliver a high performance cloud solution that more seamlessly integrates into customers- existing data centers.
Oracle today announced the roadmap for integrating Nimbula Director, an Infrastructure-as-a-Service software solution that enables enterprises and service providers to build a cloud environment on their own infrastructure, with . Nimbula, Inc. was by Oracle in March 2013.
This integration is expected to provide customers with a highly scalable Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) offering that includes:
Native Oracle Exalogic Infiniband integration, with self-healing and self-managing control plane services
High-performance, mission-critical, application-driven virtualization through
Efficient scalability to thousands of virtual machines, with minimal management overhead
Highly available and resilient distributed control stack that can withstand concurrent loss of multiple compute nodes with no impact to online operations
Application deployment blueprints will help to simplify and automate the provisioning and configuration of multi-tier , and third party applications.
will also be integrated with Nimbula Director for a complete, unified and automated out-of-the-box cloud automation solution that will offer:
Full IaaS lifecycle management, including self-service provisioning of virtual resources, scale-up/down, user management, metering, charge-back and billing
Full PaaS lifecycle management, including Database-as-a-Service, Java-as-a-Service and Middleware-as-a-Service
A single management regime for cloud and traditional IT estates leveraging application-to-disk management: service level monitoring, cross-tier diagnostics, remedial action from a single management console and full-stack patching and upgrade capabilities
This will be the first time the extreme performance of Oracle Exalogic and OpenStack capabilities will be available on a single system. compatible APIs will provide seamless integration into enterprise cloud deployments and will allow customers to manage elastic compute and storage, as well as seamlessly move workloads from Oracle Exalogic to Oracle Public Cloud and back
Customers will benefit from the combination of Nimbula Director and Oracle Exalogic in three specific ways:
Scale from one Oracle Exalogic machine to many Oracle Exalogic machines, and operate them as a single virtual data center within a private cloud
Integrate Oracle Exalogic easily into data centers, using existing operational models and third party cloud management tools that support OpenStack
Use Oracle Enterprise Manager to integrate the combined Nimbula Director/Oracle Exalogic footprint into the larger IT estate and benefit from application-to-disk management and complete cloud management for the capabilities provided within Oracle Exalogic
“By integrating Nimbula Director into Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud, we are positioned to bring Oracle customers the industry-s first engineered system that can deliver a scalable, resilient cloud infrastructure with breakthrough application performance,” said Thomas Kurian, executive vice president, Oracle. “Customers and partners deploying Java, Oracle Fusion Middleware, Oracle and ISV Applications on private cloud environments will be able to consolidate all their workloads on the industry-s only engineered cloud platform that scales linearly within the data center and across Oracle Public Cloud.”
