RGB Networks Exhibits Full -Multiscreen 2.0- Solution at IBC 2013

AMSTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS — (Marketwired) — 09/12/13 — RGB Networks, the leading provider of scalable multiscreen IP video delivery solutions, will demonstrate its range of products designed to enable video service providers (VSPs) to significantly expand, streamline and monetize TV Everywhere deployments at IBC 2013 in Amsterdam, September 13-17, on stand #4.B70.

According to recent figures from Juniper Research, revenues from mobile and tablet television streaming are set to rocket to nearly $10 billion by 2017. As the number of end user devices accessing video content in live and on-demand settings continues to rise, network equipment is being put under increasing strain.

This maturation of -TV Everywhere- is currently exposing all the shortcomings of first generation multiscreen technologies. Originally implemented to support small trial deployments, -Multiscreen 1.0- architectures have reached their limits. Often comprised of low-density transcoders and packagers with limited features, they lack the flexibility to scale and the ability to support the advanced monetization strategies necessary for VSPs to remain profitable in an extremely competitive marketplace.

“This is a critical time in the evolution of the video delivery industry as video service providers are undertaking full-scale roll-outs of multiscreen services,” said Simone Sassoli, Vice President of Marketing and Business Development at RGB Networks. “As a key partner to many of the largest operators in the world, we-ve been through over 100 IP video deployments and have applied many lessons learned in the trenches to our -Multiscreen 2.0- solutions. We look forward to sharing our next-generation technologies with visitors to this year-s IBC show and helping them to streamline and monetize their multiscreen deployments.”

At IBC 2013, RGB Networks will show its recently launched, carrier-class Video Multiprocessing Gateway (VMG) Gen 2 — the heart of RGB-s -Multiscreen 2.0- live streaming solution — which is revolutionizing the transcoding field and bridging the gap between Multiscreen 1.0 and today-s high-quality multiscreen environments.

At the show, RGB will highlight its full Multiscreen 2.0 solution comprised of:

High-Density Transcoding without Compromise: RGB-s modular VMG Gen 2 performs the industry-s highest capacity real-time transcoding while still delivering superior video quality. Tightly integrated with RGB-s TransAct Packager for delivering live video services to any device, this unique pair can scale easily to meet growing demand for multiscreen services. The VMG Gen 2 is also tightly integrated with RGB-s ad insertion and nDVR solutions, providing VSPs with an end-to-end video processing solution for the delivery and monetization of next-generation video services.

Streamlined Delivery of nDVR and VOD Services: The -just-in-time- packaging (JITP) capability of RGB-s TransAct Packager enables VSPs to deliver on-demand services in an adaptive streaming environment without pre-packaging all their video assets in each of the predominant protocols. Pioneered by RGB, this next-gen technology is in trails with major operators today, reducing the need for costly storage and network bandwidth and allowing VSPs to more quickly and cost-effectively expand their on-demand TV Everywhere libraries. RGB Networks will show the JITP user interface for an nDVR deployment currently in use by a European customer.

Multiscreen Monetisation: Utilising advanced adaptive bitrate streaming to facilitate hyper-targeted advertising down to the neighborhood, device or even specific individual, RGB-s Ad Insertion for Multiscreen (AIM) solution enables VSPs to migrate to a proven model for monetizing video services to the multiscreen environment. Delivering relevant ads in real time, AIM delivers across content types with a quick time-to-market.

Executives from RGB Networks will be available on stand #4.B70 throughout IBC 2013 taking place September 13-17, in Amsterdam, to answer questions and provide demonstrations of the unique advantages that RGB-s multiscreen IP video delivery and monetization solutions can offer.

RGB Networks enables video service providers to migrate to a environment for the delivery of linear and on-demand video over managed and unmanaged IP networks. Wide adoption of the company-s IP video solutions is based on core strengths in transcoding, advertising and overlay insertion, and statistical multiplexing. RGB-s solutions for video delivery to TVs, desktop and mobile devices are built to deliver the highest video quality at the best price-performance on the market — they uniquely offer the density and scalability required to support the growing demands of consumers with integrated functionality that simplifies operators- network architectures and minimizes operational costs.
