REDWOOD SHORES, CA — (Marketwired) — 09/11/13 — Oracle (NYSE: ORCL)
To help improve time-to-market for converged fixed and mobile service, enhance service quality and improve network security, leading European communications service provider (CSP) Telefónica Germany selected Oracle-s Acme Packet Net-Net Session Director and Oracle-s Acme Packet Net-Net 6300 platform.
Oracle Communications today announced that Telefónica Germany, a leading provider of fixed and mobile services, has selected running on the recently released platform to support fixed line IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) services, voice over LTE (VoLTE) and rich communication services-enhanced (RCS-e) service offerings.
Net-Net Session Director provides key IMS functionality at the device access and interconnect borders of the network and enables Telefónica Germany to leverage a single session border control solution for both fixed line and mobile services.
In addition, Net-Net 6300 platform allows Telefónica Germany to contain capital equipment and operational expenditures by reducing power, cooling, cabling and rack space requirements and minimizing the number of session border controller elements in the network to help deliver unprecedented network throughput, performance and capacity.
Oracle-s Acme Packet Net-Net Session Director and Oracle-s Acme Packet Net-Net 6300 solution can support multiple services — including VoLTE, RCS-e and residential VoIP — on a single platform. The solution manages session initiation protocol (SIP) sessions between the Telefónica Germany service core and fixed and mobile endpoints, providing comprehensive security capabilities and admission control features that protect against denial-of-service threats and non-malicious overloads, as well as load balancing and policy management features to enable high service quality.
“For years, Telefónica Germany has successfully relied on Oracle-s Acme Packet solutions to protect and control our IMS network. Going forward, the new Net-Net 6300 will enable us to meet challenging VoLTE and RCS-e throughput and scalability demands while preserving our existing operational models,” said Dr. Karsten Schröder, Head of Converged Solutions, Telefónica Germany.
“Next-generation services such as VoLTE and RCS-e will demand increasingly higher performance levels. Net-Net 6300 gives Telefónica Germany the capacity to meet its projected subscriber growth, while containing equipment and operating expenses,” said Bhaskar Gorti, senior vice president and general manager, Oracle Communications.
