Toshiba-s Migration Path Helps Users Retain Investment While Moving From Digital or IP to Cloud Business Telephones

IRVINE, CA — (Marketwired) — 09/10/13 — Toshiba America Information Systems Inc., Telecommunication Systems Division (Toshiba — ) provides a clear and affordable migration path to help its users retain their investments while moving to newer, feature-rich Toshiba business telephone solutions. Users of Toshiba-s IP business telephone systems can easily migrate to Toshiba-s IP business telephone system while reusing their existing and other components.

The Toshiba IP5000 telephone handsets designed for Strata CIX and IPedge can also migrate to Toshiba-s cloud-based business telephone solution. In addition, Toshiba digital business telephone users of Toshiba-s legacy Strata CTX and CIX systems can continue using their digital phones, upgrade to Strata CIX plus IP card and then add IPedge as an application server to take advantage of the many robust IPedge UC applications ().

“For more than 35 years, Toshiba has given its users the peace of mind that they have a solid migration path within the Toshiba portfolio of business telephone solutions,” said Brian Metherell, vice president and general manager of Toshiba America Information Systems Inc., Telecommunication Systems Division.

“Empowering users to retain a significant part of their investments in their business telephone systems makes it easier for them to incrementally move to newer Toshiba platforms and receive expanded features and functionality, particularly the highly desirable mobile applications. It-s a key value proposition that sets Toshiba apart from the competition,” added Mark Carpenter, vice president, Technology and Product Management, of Toshiba America Information Systems Inc., Telecommunication Systems Division.

Many Toshiba customers have had proven savings when they migrated to new Toshiba business telephone systems. Chelsea Piers, the 28-acre sports village built on four historic piers on the Hudson River in New York City, migrated from an older Toshiba legacy system to a new Strata CIX1200 IP business telephone system. Migrating to the new Strata CIX system allowed them to keep their original telephones and interface units, which contributed to an immediate return on investment as well as significant yearly savings ().

“With new telephones representing approximately half the cost of a new business telephone system, customers can save a lot of money by being able to keep and reuse working telephones. This represents a huge reduction in the cost of moving to a new system,” Metherell said. “When combined with potentially large drops in long distance costs by moving to IP and reduced maintenance costs associated with older systems, many customers find that the cost to simply add new features and applications to their existing systems is significantly lower than the cost to move to a whole new system.”
