PORTLAND, OR — (Marketwired) — 09/09/13 — InFocus, a global leader in interactive display technology, has opened a new facility for the production of its 70-inch Mondopad and BigTouch to a new facility in Beaverton, Oregon, choosing domestic rather than overseas manufacturing. The collaboration devices include the Mondopad, a PC/Tablet teleconferencing hybrid, and the BigTouch all-in-one touchscreen PC.
“The decision by the InFocus team to relocate manufacturing to Oregon is great news,” said U.S. Rep. Suzanne Bonamici, who represents Oregon-s 1st congressional district. “The planned expansion will create new jobs and boost the local economy. It also shows that there are substantial advantages to making products in the United States. I-m working to pass legislation that would encourage more companies to bring their manufacturing jobs back to America.”
The facility will manufacture the and with a service center set to ramp up at the site soon. InFocus has additional plans to expand the facility in the near future. It is the first U.S.-based manufacturing facility for InFocus in more than 10 years, and it will serve the North American and European markets.
“InFocus technology is helping engage students and getting them excited about hands-on learning,” said Oregon Labor and Industries Commissioner Brad Avakian. “With today-s announcement, the company will also be creating jobs and expanding our manufacturing base while building innovative tools for Oregon classrooms and beyond.”
According to Louis Hindman, engineering manager for InFocus, the new facility is a rare and exciting example of manufacturing jobs coming to the United States.
“This is great news for Oregon residents and local workers,” said Hindman. “We hope that our new facility is the start of even greater things to come. This is an important development for the state and the region.”

As part of its expansion, InFocus is committed to locally sourcing goods from Pacific Northwest vendors such as American Metal Specialties, a metal fabrication company based in Milwaukie, Oregon.
“As a result of our work with InFocus, we have hired two more employees and are looking to add another one or two full-time workers soon,” said Chris Hayter, plant manager at American Metal Specialties.
