2013 Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing India Opens Call for Participation

PALO ALTO, CA — (Marketwired) — 09/04/13 — The Anita Borg Institute, a non-profit organization focused on the advancement of women in computer science and engineering, today announced the opening of its Call for Participation in its . The annual conference, presented by the and ACM-India, will take place November 13-15, 2013 at the Lalit Ashok Hotel, Bangalore, India. The theme “Together We Rise” encourages women in computing to collaborate across many different facets of the industry to create a larger and stronger network of women within the technical community. Participation submissions are encouraged to explore various boundaries encountered in technology. The submission deadline for and is September 12, 2013.

The Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing India gives women in computing an opportunity to highlight their research and career interests. Prominent women in the technical community will present their work and findings, while the breakout sessions will focus on the role of women in technology fields, such as computer science, information technology, research and engineering. The technical conference features keynote speakers, panels, workshops, technical posters, a woman-led Hackathon, Women Entrepreneur Quest, and birds of a feather sessions. 2013 keynote speakers include Kumud M. Srinivasan, President, Intel India and Anjali Arora, Vice President, Software Development Administrative and Financial Solutions, Allscripts.

The Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing India committee encourages both technical and professional topics for submission that reflect the conference theme “Together We Rise” which can be exemplified through innovation within a company, from the academic world, or from individual contributors. In line with the theme, technical submissions that promote women-s solidarity and resilience are encouraged. Track topics include: Internet of Things, Machine to Machine Computing, Confluence of Social, Cloud and Mobile, Security and Information Management (e.g., identity theft, cyber tools, and privacy in defense, finance, health care, or social computing), Big Data, Semiconductor and Nanotechnology, Networking, Ubiquitous Computing, Low-powered Processors, Internet Technologies and Services, High-performance Computing and Advances in Computer Hardware. Track submissions can be workshops, presentations, birds of a feather sessions and panels. Poster submissions can cover any technical computing field.
