GiS, one of the leading providers in the field of -IT-supported business management and maintenance solutions-, is developing into a globally operating company. It has just received its first order from Australia and will implement its +Maintenance Solution, the maintenance solution for SAP Business ByDesign, for the Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority.
The add-on solution developed by GiS for the SAP Business ByDesign ERP system is provided to the authority as a customer one-off solution. With the fully integrated +Maintenance Solution, the SHFA is enhancing SAP Business ByDesign with a professional planning tool to maintain its extensive investment portfolio. The joint project between SAP and GiS starts in November 2013.
“By submitting an order, the SHFA has placed its trust in GiS as an SAP solution partner especially for the functional areas of maintenance and servicing. The aim of the implementation is to provide effective cloud-based maintenance management services using the latest technology, whilst keeping an eye on the bigger picture at the same time,” explains Detlef Aden, Head of Sales and Marketing at GiS.
Sydney-s famous coastline is the jewel in the crown of New South Wales, the federal state in South-East Australia, which plays host to millions of tourists from all over the world each year. One of the most culturally significant tourist centres in Australia is managed by the Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority (SHFA), founded in 1998.
The SHFA corporate body is responsible for some of the federal state-s most important assets, including Sydney-s cultural heritage, listed buildings and the cultural areas in the precincts of Darling Harbour and The Rocks.
Darling Harbour, originally part of Sydney-s commercial port with moorings, warehouses, loading facilities and factories, is one of Sydney-s largest recreational and leisure precincts with numerous hotels, restaurants, shopping centres, theatres, museums and entertainment centres.
Such an extensive and spacious area has a correspondingly wide variety of different assets that have to be maintained. These can be assets in buildings and installations or in the field of landscaping and infrastructure etc. – in brief, everything that falls under the term “facilities”.
This is precisely where the +Maintenance Solution plays a decisive role by
offering the SHFA maintenance functionalities that are directly integrated into SAP Business ByDesign. Among other things, this includes the systematic recording of malfunctions at the facilities and their elimination by means of maintenance orders, setting up recurring tasks and handling them using maintenance orders, recording asset data based on types, and carrying out asset changes and improvement measures. Maintenance measures are processed with the “Project Management” scoping element in the standard SAP Business ByDesign system.
“We are a member of the SAP Extended Business program and work very closely together with the software manufacturer. As a solution partner for maintenance management, we have developed an innovative maintenance-based add-on solution from the cloud, one of the first solutions that combines business management and maintenance management in a single system,” explains Detlef Aden. “With SHFA we are on route to becoming a globally operating company. Our network for SAP is expanding continuously and we are receiving increasing numbers of inquiries from large international groups. We are delighted that we can offer our expertise to companies abroad as well,” continues Aden.
The +Maintenance Solution has also received the “BEST OF 2013” award from the “Initiative Mittelstand” [initiative of medium-sized businesses].
