AARAU, SWITZERLAND — (Marketwired) — 08/20/13 — maker Picturepark® has released Picturepark 8.5. Featured in the update is the new Picturepark “Ports” technology, which makes it easier for DAM integrators and partners to build DAM portals (ports) that can be easily added to websites and intranets, without programming.
“Ports provide branded or embedded access to Picturepark assets from virtually any Web location,” said Picturepark CEO, Ramon Forster. “Ports enable customers to provide pre-filtered asset collections right where users expect them — website sidebars, wiki and CRM pages, or even through fully branded stand-alone interfaces.”
Custom interfaces for many Picturepark customers, including and , were built using pre-release Ports technology.
To publish a digital asset to a port, the user drags the asset onto the port-s source category in the Picturepark tree. Removing an asset from a source category removes it from the port. Automated workflows can also be used to manage port assignments, which is helpful when assets must be embargoed or taken offline when licenses expire.
Ports are built inside a graphical editor that will seem familiar to users of Dreamweaver or similar Web editing tools. A number of port templates are included to make it easier for port designers to get started. Customers can also buy pre-configured templates from Picturepark partners, or have DAM integrators or Web developers design templates for them.
Picturepark 8.5 also introduces a file sharing feature that enables users to choose custom landing pages that have been built on Ports technology. Links that lead to previews or downloads of any preconfigured asset derivative are also now available, so individual images placed on Web pages can be managed and served directly from Picturepark.
