BIO-key(R) International, Inc. Certified for Allscripts Professional EHR(TM)

WALL, NJ — (Marketwired) — 08/16/13 — BIO-key International, Inc. (OTCQB: BKYI), a global leader in fingerprint biometric identification solutions, advanced mobile credentialing and identity verification technologies, today reported that Allscripts has certified BIO-key-s biometric identity management solutions for healthcare providers using Allscripts Professional EHR. Knox Community Hospital, Mt. Vernon, Ohio, a community-owned, 115-bed, not-for-profit hospital, is the first to incorporate the new integrated solution. Allscripts Professional provides electronic health records management for small to midsize practices and represents the largest footprint of the Allscripts EHR solution sets. Today, Allscripts provides EHR programs to over 180,000 physicians.

BIO-key-s integration with Allscripts Professional enhances practice workflow by reducing or eliminating the use of passwords, cards or tokens traditionally used to access electronic health records. Providers move seamlessly from device to device accessing patient records with a swipe of their finger; reducing log-in time and increasing productivity along with patient care resulting in additional revenue. The amount of time providers and healthcare organizations save by integrating BIO-key technology is measurable and can be substantial depending upon the size of the organization.

The certification with Allscripts Professional rounds out the suite of BIO-key authentication solution offerings with Allscripts; which includes prior integrations with Sunrise Clinical Manager and Enterprise EHR.

“The third and most recent integration with Allscripts is important to us because the majority of Allscripts customers use Pro EHR,” stated Mike DePasquale, CEO, BIO-key. “There are also indications we can launch our authentication solutions faster with Pro customers because the evaluation and decision making process is less complex.”

Also, BIO-key will be exhibiting the company-s fast, secure and complaint finger biometric authentication solutions for EPCS and CPOE at the Allscripts Client Experience (ACE – Booth #926); which is attended by leading hospitals and clinics seeking to educate their staff about the newest innovations in electronic health records management. ACE takes place at the McCormick Center, Chicago, Illinois August 21st – 23rd. BIO-key will be offering a special presentation on Thursday, August 22nd at 4:15pm in room W192C Utilize Biometric Technology to Enable Fast and Compliant EHR Workflow.”
