Ink Launches Development Framework for People to Instantly Access and Move Content Across iOS Applications

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — (Marketwired) — 08/15/13 — today announced the launch of its Ink Mobile solution. The new iOS development framework brings PC functionality to mobile devices, seamlessly connecting content directly into and across popular applications and cloud services. Ink Mobile eliminates the countless steps it takes to sign, edit, share, save, and send photos and documents from mobile devices, allowing people to quickly complete tasks on-the-go that they previously would wait to complete on their PCs. The new Ink framework is available starting today, initially on iOS only. Download it here: . Additionally, Ink is releasing four sample applications to demonstrate the benefits of the framework. “People want to work on their devices, but they-re so frustrated that their favorite apps and cloud services don-t work together. Sure, they can store content anywhere, but what they really need is instant access to content any time, anywhere. By tackling this problem, we-ve enabled developers to create frictionless mobile workflows for people,” said Brett van Zuiden, founder and CEO of Ink. “We-re reinventing the mobile experience, allowing people to complete tasks while on-the-go, follow up on assignments, edit and share attachments, and make sure content is instantly available whenever and wherever they need it.”

Ink offers people a better way to work by providing a way to easily move content between their favorite apps and cloud services. Within the Ink framework, the Ink workspace presents people with a list of apps that can be used, along with their actions, within a workflow. And with the Ink framework in place, people can open a contract in email, sign it with their favorite signature app, reply with the signed contract and store to their cloud storage all in one single, fluid experience.

User Benefits

Clearer path to action or intent.

Reduced number of steps needed to get something done on your mobile device.

No fumbling around with open in actions.

A single workspace to easily manage mobile apps.

People can sign, edit, share, and save content across their favorite apps and cloud services.

Each action is automatically saved, giving people the ability to go back to the place they came from — whether it-s an email, photo or document.

“When you launch a piece of content inside an app that uses Ink, the framework will calculate the best set of additional apps you might need to complete the workflow based on the actions that you-ve performed in the past, the apps you have on your device, the app you-re launching from, and the type of content you-re using,” notes van Zuiden. “If you want to complete an action with an app that-s not on your device, we-ll ask if you want to install it and then take you to the app store, where you can download the app, and once you launch the new app Ink will automatically send you back into the workflow to complete the task.”

Ink provides the tools developers need to connect their applications with the broader software ecosystem, enabling new levels of engagement and improving user experience. Whether it-s photos or documents, presentations or plans, Ink allows developers to integrate the features people need to select their files from their accounts. Partners participating in the launch include Evernote, Citrix Podio, egnyte, SignEasy, and doctape.

Developer Benefits

App discovery – i.e., instantly allowing people to discover other apps in the Ink workspace

Ink enabled apps gets instant access to other Ink enabled best of breed applications for rich workflows

Applications connect directly into people-s mobile workflows.

People get more value out of applications.

People use applications more, PCs less.

“We wanted to enable Podio users to move project documents directly into their favorite file-sharing apps and Ink-s framework does just that. Ink allows people using Podio to work seamlessly across these apps — creating automatic access to the desired files no matter where they-re stored,” said Tommy Ahlers, VP Social Collaboration, Citrix. “With Ink as the common framework between Podio and other apps, all services can -talk- to each other frictionlessly, without users having to jump through any hoops to get there.”
