Mindflash Is First-to-Market With Look-Away Feature for Online Training

PALO ALTO, CA — (Marketwired) — 08/13/13 — Mindflash has introduced an exciting new feature to its iPad e-learning application that is designed to help companies dramatically increase the effectiveness of their online training courses. The capability, dubbed FocusAssist, monitors trainee attention and pauses a training course in the Mindflash application when trainees look away. Organizations concerned about trainee distraction and compliance during self-paced remote training can now have greater confidence that critical information is being reviewed and understood.

This breakthrough computer-vision solution was developed by Stanford University PhDs and founders of Sension. Mindflash for iPad is the first implementation of this powerful technology for corporate e-learning. The feature is available to Mindflash customers today, via a limited beta. Beta invitations can be requested at: .

“Healthcare regulations are constantly evolving, causing our training needs to skyrocket,” said Kerri Greene, project manager in charge of training and education at CWC, the largest OB/GYN practice in the mid-Atlantic region. “The Mindflash iPad app gives our constantly-on-the-move clinical staff the flexibility to train when they can, wherever they are, including on breaks and in between patient visits. Using the new FocusAssist feature, if clinicians get distracted while training, we don-t have to worry that valuable training material is being missed.”

In related news, Mindflash has updated its e-learning software to include multiple new enterprise-class capabilities, including:

— A new Mindflash API allows companies to build integrations that automate even more of the administrative tasks that are necessary for training management. For example, using the API, as soon as a newly hired employee is set up in the company-s HR system, he or she could instantly be invited to a series of “New Employee Orientation” courses. Similarly, a newly promoted employee could be automatically invited to a series of “Management” courses.

— A second API, also released today, allows trainees to sign in to Mindflash training courses using the same account and credentials they already use to log in to their enterprise intranet or applications.

— Mindflash no longer requires that companies provide email addresses for its trainees, allowing the platform to better meet the needs of large retail, service and manufacturing organizations in which employees may not have corporate email addresses.

The above product capabilities are now live. The username feature is available to customers using Mindflash Advanced or Mindflash Pro editions of the product. The Automated Workflow and SSO APIs are available to Pro tier customers.

“Our product mission is to reduce the administrative burden on corporate trainers and help increase and demonstrate their impact on their organizations- bottom lines,” said Randhir Vieira, vice president of product and marketing at Mindflash. “We-re delivering on both objectives with this release: significantly easing a trainer-s workload by enabling automated workflows, single sign-on and simple, username enrollment; and introducing leading-edge technology via FocusAssist to help them improve trainee comprehension and compliance while maintaining the convenience and cost-savings of online, self-paced learning.”

Mindflash provides the leading online platform for employee and customer training. Its cloud-based, simple yet powerful design allows businesses to more easily create and manage critical company training programs — saving them significant time and money. No engineering or IT support is required, as there is no software to install or maintain. Courses are created using the file types that businesses already use (PowerPoint, PDF, Word, video, audio). Trainers simply upload and organize files using an intuitive course dashboard, add quizzes and then publish to the web to create self-paced new hire training, sales training, customer certification courses, etc. As needed, the software scales to support thousands of simultaneous training sessions. Mindflash has over 1,000 customers including McDonalds, Microsoft, Lufthansa and Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts.

Founded in 1999, Mindflash is a privately held company and headquartered in Palo Alto, Calif. To learn more, please visit .
