AGOURA HILLS, CA — (Marketwired) — 08/07/13 — , the innovator and pioneer of public access gateways, has announced (NSE) version 8.2 for its AG 2400, AG 5600 and AG 5800 access gateways, which service Internet connections for guests. The 8.2 release offers a new optional to ensure that demands placed on high-speed Internet access (HSIA) are balanced based on the capability of each connection. The release also includes an easy-to-use and effective interface management system to manage and monitor the entire process.
The load balancing and link failover module is designed for entities that deploy multiple WAN/ISP links to increase service reliability and/or save on costs. The load balancing feature manages bandwidth demand by distributing traffic across capable Internet lines to provide maximum service. As WAN resources are increased or decreased, the user will be reallocated across all WAN connections. Additionally, a new series of RADIUS VSAs (vendor specific attributes) facilitates WAN preference selection and related bandwidth allocation. The link failover feature improves business continuity, as it automatically reroutes traffic to surviving links in the event that one or more links fail. Once the failed links recover, connections are then routed toward the now-working links to achieve a balance of users across all WANs.
Because the load balancing and link failover module is consolidated within the gateway software, no third-party load balancing appliance is needed, making configuration a snap. It is available for an additional license.
The simply-designed yet powerful interface management system allows establishments using the Internet visitor access gateway to more accurately monitor Internet traffic, as well configure all links and make connection changes using one interface table. This intuitive table management tool enables tracking and maintenance of these links and VLANS, including a new routing, ARP and iNAT table of interfaces. System information is displayed on an LCD monitor and has been enhanced to include the system platform, the firmware version, the NSE ID number, and the number of active users. The interface management system will be available to all who install version 8.2 at no additional cost.
“In today-s connected world, hotel guests consider reliable Internet connectivity an uncompromised necessity rather than just a nice-to-have amenity,” said Fred Reeder, chief commercial and operating officer of Nomadix. “With version 8.2 of our software, we-re enabling hotels to have greater control and visibility over Internet traffic, which will in turn provide more seamless connectivity to their guests in a user-friendly fashion.”
Designed for smaller properties, such as hotels with up to 150 rooms, the AG 2400 gateway enables the deployment of wired or wireless networks supporting up to 200 simultaneous mobile devices. The AG 5600 and AG 5800 gateways serve larger properties with up to 2,000 and 4,000 simultaneous users, respectively.
