TubeStart Increases Funding for YouTube Content Creators With Launch of Subscription-Based Crowdfunding Platform

SANTA MONICA, CA — (Marketwired) — 07/30/13 — announced today that it will be waiving fees for content creators that sign up campaigns during the first 2 weeks of August. The new platform will provide the more than 1 million YouTube creators from 30 countries with the opportunity to run both traditional rewards based and royalty-based crowdfunding campaigns, as well as launch “unique-to-market” subscription-based crowdfunding campaigns for driving ongoing revenue. Both established YouTube producers as well as creative newcomers will be able to tap into this new crowdfunding model provided by TubeStart.

Through subscription-based crowdfunding, TubeStart is leading the way in providing an innovative solution for increasing the monetization of video content in both the U.S. and abroad. allows content creators to run campaigns that provide their supporters with ongoing access to exclusive content, bonus content or “first-to-preview” content in exchange for paying monthly subscription fees through crowdfunding. This new crowdfunding hybrid model allows creators to keep their primary content publicly available to maximize AdSense revenue while acquiring recurring monthly contributions for driving ongoing monthly revenue on TubeStart.

As a result of the need for alternative financing methods for entertainment projects, many creators have turned to the general interest crowdfunding portals like Indiegogo and Kickstarter, but have found that traditional crowdfunding campaigns take a large amount of time and only generate one-time funding — leaving many creators in need of additional funding down the road. Also, traditional platforms don-t allow YouTube creators to enjoy the benefits of being in a YouTube-only crowdfunding environment so that their projects are not lost among the vast world of other campaigns found on traditional sites.

“There are many different kinds and models of crowdfunding on the market, but TubeStart is the only one that will meet the needs of YouTube creators, where the majority of web video is hosted,” according to TubeStart Founder and CEO Josef Holm, a veteran entrepreneur and Crowdfunding Professional Association PR committee member. “The great thing about subscription- and royalty-based crowdfunding models is that content creators will connect directly with their audiences who in turn subscribe to them, but still have the option to generate ad-based revenue on their public channels.”

TubeStart will be open and available to all creators in the U.S., Canada and the European Union. Creators can conduct conventional crowdfunding campaigns between $500 and $500,000, or develop a subscription-based campaign with supporters paying between $5 and $50 monthly. All creators can now set up their campaigns with no commissions or fees between now and when the platform officially launches on August 20 — as an added incentive for registering early. Creators can pre-register now at . Also learn more about how TubeStart works by visiting .

“Subscription-based crowdfunding is ideal for established YouTubers with dedicated fan bases to offer exclusive, higher-quality content, and also for producers of niche or special interest content that have more difficulty raising revenue via the current ad-based model,” said Holm.
