The employees of the software manufacturer community4you were highly delighted when Prof. Dr. Dr. h. c. mult. Carl H. Hahn and his brother Wolfgang Hahn paid the company a spontaneous visit on July 9, 2013. The two gentlemen were traveling in the region and were very happy to take a look at their former home once again.
The villa, built in 1923, is situated in Chemnitz in the Haendelstrasse 9. Over time it changed several times its owner and after a fire of the roof it ended in a poor state of repair. In August 2003 this house full of history was purchased by the community4you GmbH and preserved from an imminent dilapidation by an extensive renovation. Since October 2004 the villa is accommodating the representative office of the internationally successful software company.
“For my brother and me it was a great gift to visit the Haendelstrasse 9 and to find that our nice former house is so full of life. We were impressed by the park of the villa with its well-grown trees and the flourishing rhododendron. It certainly makes a lot of fun to create innovative ideas and develop successful products in such a work environment” says Prof. Dr. Carl H. Hahn.
A review: In April 2008, community4you GmbH celebrated together with the Honorary Citizen of Chemnitz and former VW Chairman Prof. Dr. Carl H. Hahn, the Mayor Barbara Ludwig, and other guests the event of giving their headquarter the honorable name “Villa Hahn”.
Prof. Dr. Carl H. Hahn was born in 1926 in Chemnitz, and lived from 1934 until 1945 with his family- co-founders of the Auto Union AG – in the villa in Haendelstrasse. Shortly before the end of the Second World War the family moved to Western Germany.
For the management directors of the community4you GmbH, Uwe Bauch and Janko Nebel, the fact that Prof. Dr. Carl H. Hahn in his youth used to live in the villa was not the only reason for giving the villa this name. Since the early 1980s, Prof. Dr. Carl H. Hahn has been tirelessly involved in the support of the automobile production in his native region of Saxony. His engagement resulted in the foundation of the Volkswagen Sachsen GmbH. In his position as automotive manager he has shaped the history of Volkswagen for half a century, contributing to make it the biggest automobile manufacturer in Europe and therefore he is considered as one of the pioneers of globalization.
