Cleveland, Ph.D., as the Company-s Chief Education Officer. Reporting directly to Trunity Chairman and CEO Terry Anderton, Dr. Cleveland is charged with improving and connecting all of Trunity-s innovative online education resources and capabilities with subject matter experts, faculty and learning institutions that serve students from kindergarten through professional accreditation programs.
Dr. Cleveland is Professor of Earth and Environment at Boston University, where he also is on the faculty of the Center for Energy and Environmental Studies. He is the co-author of the digital textbook ,Trunity-s bestselling and most often used digital course material. Currently, the digital text is used at Boston University, Spokane Community College, Highpoint University, State University of New York, University of California/Monterey Bay and the University of Redlands — with approximately 50 additional U.S. higher educational institutions considering it for their 2013-2014 academic year. In addition, Dr. Cleveland authored on the Trunity eLearning Platform, which is currently taught at Boston University and available to students through the Trunity Knowledge Exchange.
Dr. Cleveland is also Editor-in-Chief of the Encyclopedia of Energy (Elsevier, 2004), winner of an American Library Association award, Editor of the Dictionary of Energy (Elsevier, 2005), co-author of the Handbook of Energy (Elsevier, 2013), and is the Founding Editor-in-Chief of the Encyclopedia of Earth. He is the recipient of the Adelman-Frankel Award from the United States Association of Energy Economics for “unique and innovative contributions to the field of energy economics.”
To date, Dr. Cleveland-s research has been funded by the Mellon Foundation, the National Science Foundation, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, the Environmental Protection Agency, and the MacArthur Foundation. He has published his findings in journals such as Nature, Science, Ecological Modeling, Energy, The Energy Journal, The Annual Review of Energy, Resource and Energy Economics, the American Association of Petroleum Geologists Bulletin, the Canadian Journal of Forest Research and Ecological Economics. Dr. Cleveland has been a consultant to numerous private and public organizations, including the Asian Development Bank, the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development, Charles River Associates, the Energy Information Administration and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. He has won publication awards from the International Association of Energy Economics, the American Library Association and the National Wildlife Federation.
Dr. Cleveland holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Ecology from Cornell University, a Master of Science degree in Marine Science from Louisiana State University, and a Ph.D. in Geography from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
