PALO ALTO, CA — (Marketwired) — 07/10/13 — HP (NYSE: HPQ) — today announced that its augmented reality (AR) platform, , has surpassed 20,000 global customers and 6 million active monthly users since its launch in June 2011.
The new customer and user numbers strengthen Aurasma-s position as the most widely adopted platform in the fast-growing AR market.
With the release of Aurasma 2.0 at the start of 2013, Aurasma-s AR platform has seen exponential growth in all areas of its business, including number of customers, Aurasma-powered apps and active monthly users. The updated platform has shown a strong increase in monthly activity, resulting in more actively engaged users who are creating and viewing more Auras (Aurasma-s terminology for an augmented experience) than ever before.
An ever-growing customer base: Since the start of the year, the industry-leading AR platform has grown its customer base by 17 percent. With customers in more than 100 countries, the platform hosts worldwide content in HP Autonomy-s 50+ petabyte cloud.
Aurasma-powered apps: The number of brands embedding Aurasma-s software development kit (SDK) into an app or white-labeling Aurasma-s app has doubled since January, with more than 2,000 Aurasma powered-apps currently available on Google Play or the App Store. Apps include DreamWorks Animation AR, Bon Jovi-s official app, GQ Live and Vanity Fair-s VF Extra! App.
Active users: Aurasma-s platform has grown its active monthly user base by 200 percent, and now averages more than 12 million views per month. These users contribute to more than 32,000 channels within the Aurasma app, which hosts 62 percent more Auras than it did at the start of 2013.
Click-throughs: In addition to tracking views, the Aurasma analytics dashboard also tracks click-throughs to web content, product pages and more. With a 225 percent growth in monthly views, the platform also has seen an increase of 183 percent more mobile clicks per month.
“The Aurasma platform makes mobile marketing and augmented reality compelling, easy and fun for our consumers,” said Jason Alex, Head of Digital Marketing, DreamWorks Animation. “We-ve implemented Aurasma-s powerful technology on a number of recent campaigns and consistently find results indicating our consumers are engaged with the experience.”
“We-re actively listening to our customers and users for input, so we can continue to build and deliver the most robust, scalable AR platform on the market,” said Annie Weinberger, general manager, Aurasma. “We-re investing our R&D efforts in updates that will allow our clients to leverage augmented reality to increase revenue and mobile customer engagement, and push the platform far beyond its capabilities today.”
