HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA — (Marketwired) — 06/20/13 — Wavefront, Canada-s Centre of Excellence for Wireless Commercialization and Research, today announced that it will accelerate the growth and development of wireless companies in Atlantic Canada with the support of the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC-IRAP). Building on four years of productive collaboration, Wavefront has entered into an agreement with IRAP that will benefit wireless entrepreneurs and firms in Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick.
The Wavefront Accelerated Program is a national program that enables early stage wireless companies to secure subsidized access to critical business development and technology commercialization services. These include needs assessments and business planning, as well as advanced usability testing and user experience design. These critical elements work together to help wireless companies capture early market share in a fast-moving industry and overcome key hurdles to ongoing growth. By working with NRC-IRAP, the Wavefront Accelerated Program has facilitated more than 100 projects to date that have provided support to companies at multiple stages of growth.
“The expansion of our Accelerated Program with the support of NRC-IRAP will help fuel the development of wireless companies in Atlantic Canada, and a stronger national wireless ecosystem by enabling high potential firms to access commercialization and business services that increase their competitiveness,” says James Maynard, President and CEO, Wavefront. “On average, companies that have benefited from Wavefront programs have increased their revenues by almost 20% and accelerated their time to market by four to six months. Our partnership with NRC-IRAP has directly contributed to these outcomes.”
By helping companies build a stronger wireless sector in Canada, Wavefront and partners like NRC-IRAP are helping build a stronger Canadian economy.
