LOS ANGELES, CA — (Marketwired) — 06/11/13 — Ever wish you could bring your best friend along on your date? Good news: now you can! , the largest and most successful community, presents its first event for Los Angeles singles and their pooches, “,” on Sunday, June 30 from 2-5 p.m. The afternoon of fetch, fun and flirting will be hosted by world-renowned dog coach and bestselling author , who has been called the “life coach for dogs and their people,” by Oprah Winfrey and is the go-to dog coach for celebrities including Ben Affleck and Natalie Portman.
Held at a private Topanga Canyon Estate, “Must Love Dogs” will offer guests the opportunity to connect with like-minded animal lovers over drinks, games and dog-friendly activities, and maybe even find “puppy love.” Twenty percent of ticket sales will be donated to , an organization that presents injured U.S. military members with the opportunity to coach and live with shelter dogs.
“The Must Love Dogs event gives the opportunity to enjoy a day outdoors with their four-legged, furry -children- and meet other singles who share a common interest,” said Arielle Schechtman, director of public and community relations for Spark Networks, JDate-s parent company. “JDate-s mission is to create lasting, meaningful relationships and build the Jewish community, and we are pleased to partner with Tamar Geller and Operation Heroes & Hounds to give JDaters® a fun and unique opportunity to connect, while giving back to a worthy cause.”
The 10-acre venue is a dog-s paradise, situated amidst rolling green hills with plenty of space for guests to run, play and bond with other pet parents. Event attendees and their pups will get the chance to work with Geller and learn her tricks firsthand. The event is open to non-dog owners as well; you don-t have to own a dog to attend, you just have to love them. Guests will also enjoy delicious hot dogs from food truck and “doggy swag bags” featuring complimentary products from premier pet companies.
“Dogs play an important role in human relationships, and I-m excited to partner with JDate to unite Los Angeles animal lovers, benefit Operation Heroes & Hounds, and have lots of fun in the process,” said Geller.
Participants in Operation Heroes & Hounds include “the walking wounded,” or members of military who may be suffering from non-visible ailments such as post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injury. The veterans are then paired with shelter dogs in need of behavior modification through the kind, non-aggressive teachings of Geller-s The Loved Dog method.

Tamar Geller is the founder of The Loved Dog method of dog training and bestselling author of a book by the same name. She is a renowned life coach for dogs and the people who love them. Known for her insight, enthusiasm and celebrity clients, Tamar rejects both the notion that a dog needs to be submissive as well as the usage of painful prong collars and choke chains that have been common tools of dog trainers for decades. Tamar became interested in dogs as she watched their training while serving as an Intelligence Officer with the elite Israeli Army Special Forces. After finishing her service, she had the extraordinary opportunity to study wolves in their natural habitat, observing that they taught their young primarily through games. Concluding that a dog possesses aspects of both wolf and human toddler, Geller created her innovative and revolutionary approach to dog training-an approach that is light-years ahead of the typical dog trainer pack.
Operation Heroes & Hounds- presents injured members of the United States military with the unique opportunity of coaching and living with shelter dogs. The focus of the program is on personal transformation through The Loved Dog method, a playful and nonaggressive approach to canine coaching. Both service members and shelter dogs learn a new set of skills that will make a positive impact on their future. Operation Heroes & Hounds participants include “the walking wounded” of the United States military suffering from non-visible ailments such as post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injury. Shelter dogs selected for the program are in need of behavior modification through the kind, nonaggressive teaching of The Loved Dog method. Together, they can heal their emotional wounds while gaining new life skills.
