Already today Hytera offers PMR solutions with higher data throughput based on TETRA Release 2 and TEDS to satisfy the growing demand on data capability. TEDS very well satisfies many mission critical data applications including picture transfer and even video. But for really demanding applications like high-definition video and other kinds of broadband data applications, the integration of LTE in TETRA is of high interest for public safety and also industrial users.
Hytera currently adapts LTE for the use in Professional Mobile Radio (PMR) and showcases its future outlook to broadband PMR at this year Critical Communications World in Paris.
The present setup consists of a LTE eNodeB, a TETRA base station and an ACCESSNET T IP core which provides PMR services to smartphone-based LTE terminals and TETRA handheld radios. Initially LTE is planned be applied for pure data-centric applications, but with this setup Hytera demonstrates already today that even PMR voice services can be realized over LTE. Group calls with priorities, text messaging and video over LTE are supported.
Broadband helps to increase the situational awareness of personnel in the field or at the command center. Similar to the public mobile radio industry, “apps” will also enter the PMR segment and are the basis for the development of customer tailored tools which support day-to-day operations.
