Super Mobile Con Sold-Out Success

CALGARY, ALBERTA — (Marketwired) — 05/17/13 — , the first annual mobile conference for Alberta-s business leaders, early adopters and creative professionals was an outstanding success. The sold-out event saw the presenters share and discuss how they have integrated mobile, in all its various branches, into their organizations.

Keynote speaker, Jouari Santiago, Head of Entertainment Products at Shaw Communications talked in-depth about how mobile has helped them with adoption rates, business forecasting, customer support and beta testing. His key take-aways about integrating mobile into an organization were to never build in a silo, have a solid go-to-market strategy, listen to your customers, and finally commit for the long-haul.

The panel on Apps Gamification and Business was very insightful with panelists Dr. Leslie Roberts from the GoForth Institute, Robyn Bews from Calgary Economic Development and , and Perry Coultrup from TransCanada providing excellent information on the application of game mechanics as Edu-tainment to business process. Said Robyn Bews about the WORKshift mobile app, “Data is the holy grail. If I can capture data using mobile gamification techniques, I can capture anything.”

Commenting about the successful implementation of , Dr. Leslie Roberts said, “For me at GoForth Institute success is when a student enjoys education. It-s fantastic to watch young people enjoy a course as much as they enjoy game play. Since the implementation of our online app for high school and post-secondary entrepreneurship courses we have a 93% completion rate compared to traditional online course completion rates of 50%. This is validation that gamification in education works.”

Other speakers, including Jason Dewling from Olds College and Jennifer Sevenko from ATB Investor Services talked about how to integrate mobile into your overall business strategy and engage your target audiences.

Summarizing the day, Tyler Shandro Vice-president and General Counsel at Robots and Pencils said, “We learned from our guest speakers to always be prepared and allow for creativity when implementing mobile into your business. Convergence is no longer a conversation. We have converged.”

We-re big enough to handle multimillion-dollar projects (including F500, FTSE100 and TSX60 companies), and small enough to maintain a commitment to being positively good at executing.
