LOS ANGELES, CA — (Marketwired) — 05/16/13 — Social TV Summit today announced the finalists for the 2013 Sports Social TV Awards, spanning 18 sports-specific categories in the innovative Sports Social TV industry. Judged by a select group of top-level sports and entertainment executives, the nominees and winners will be celebrated at a cocktail party on Wednesday, May 29 at the Bel-Air Country Club in Los Angeles, following the first Sports Social TV Summit.
Bringing together the top people, platforms and programs in the Sports Social TV space, the Sports Social TV Awards will recognize nominees for excelling in the fast-moving industry of social TV, specific to the sports market, and pioneering the future of television with second-screen experiences. With Kevin Frazier, host of Fox Sports College Football Studio Show and CBS- OMG-The Insider, as the master of ceremonies, the awards will celebrate tremendous achievements in the exciting Sports Social TV industry.
The 2013 Sports Social TV Awards finalists consist of Sports Social TV platforms, programs and promotions that were implemented from January 1 through May 6, 2013. Winners will receive a “STEEVEE,” a custom social TV trophy, in commemoration of their industry accomplishments. Each category salutes individuals, brands, programmers and networks that pioneer the rapidly-expanding Sports Social TV field.
The 18 Sports Social TV awards to be presented include Best Professional League, Best Team, Best Broadcast Network, Best Sports Social TV Integration of Twitter, and Sports Social TV Entertainer of the Year. Finalists range from professional sports teams, such as the Boston Celtics and the New York Giants, to major sports networks, such as ESPN, and professional athletes, such as Shaquille O-Neil.
Preceding the Sports Social TV Awards, the Sports Social TV Summit will examine social TV and its impact on the future of sports. Keynote speakers , , will provide valuable insight on how Sports Social TV stakeholders are using apps to drive views, engage fans and monetize the second screen audience.
