BOULDER, CO — (Marketwired) — 05/16/13 — Zayo today announced it will provide a dark fiber backhaul solution for a major wireless network at the 2013 Indianapolis 500 in Indianapolis, Ind. The company has installed a dark fiber ring to improve wireless capacity and reliability during the month-s events in Indianapolis and will remain in place to serve the growing bandwidth needs of mobile users.
Zayo-s services will support wireless traffic backhaul from a distributed antenna system (DAS) deployment at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and will enable a 23-mile fiber ring connecting a national carrier-s multiple points of presence and the speedway. The added capacity and reliability will provide greater access to cell service for the thousands of race-goers.
Zayo now manages more than 540 fiber route miles in the Indianapolis metro area and supports service to more than 300 buildings on-net. By leveraging its dense fiber footprint, Zayo-s small cell product can enable better wireless network capacity and coverage for wireless carriers.
The dark fiber ring was completed in fewer than 90 days and will increase reliability to support thousands of subscribers. In addition to providing vital backhaul services to leading wireless service providers, Zayo also offers turnkey small cell services, which include site acquisition, zoning, permitting, installation, site management and remote hands.
