CALGARY, ALBERTA — (Marketwired) — 05/09/13 — The Digital Alberta Awards, now in its third year, is a ceremony designed to recognize leaders in innovation, creativity and the evolving digital sector in Alberta. Award submissions are now open until May 15.
This year-s categories include companies, individual entrepreneurs, student and education leaders, organizations in both the government and not for profit sector, and those whose industry sectors may not traditionally be considered in the realm of -digital media-, but are pioneering and raising the bar as they converge with technology.
The purpose of the awards program is to celebrate leaders in innovation, creativity and the evolving digital media sector in Alberta who are leading the way nationally and globally. The program includes 16 categories ranging from philanthropy, film, software, community and education, television and gaming, mobile and start-ups, design and creative, to marketing and social media. This event is an excellent opportunity for digital leaders to network, learn and promote new connections between industries.
Returning this year is the People-s Choice Award for the most inspirational digital leader. Each year this prize is awarded to an individual who is an advocate, visionary, creative, teacher, technologist and entrepreneur whose efforts in Alberta-s digital space deserve to be honoured. This inspirational technology tycoon will be selected by his or her peers in the digital community through an online vote. The winner will be announced live at the event at the Royal Alberta Museum in Edmonton on Sunday June 2 at 6 pm.
