Riverbed Granite Storage Delivery Solutions Seeking EMC E-Lab Qualification

LAS VEGAS, NV — (Marketwired) — 05/08/13 — (NASDAQ: RVBD), the application performance company, today announced that its Riverbed® Granite® storage delivery solutions are expected to receive EMC® E-Lab qualification with EMC VNX® in the second quarter of 2013, enabling customers to extend the benefits of the data center to global branch offices. The award-winning consolidate edge data to the secure data center, while delivering local performance and data access to branch offices. This approach improves security, data protection, and performance, all while reducing the total cost of ownership of branch infrastructure. This news builds upon EMC E-Lab qualifying Riverbed Granite 1.0 with EMC VMAX® in 2012.

“Increasingly IT is in the data center but business is at the edge. This is as a result of three major changes that are taking place at the edge — the rapid launch of business services that require agility, new data sources that generate critical information, and operations in a global economy where there are varying concerns in regions over intellectual property, security and privacy,” said Rick Villars, Vice President, Datacenter and Cloud, IDC. “As a result, a critical part to making businesses grow in the future is a reliable, low cost, consistent and agile infrastructure. One of the ways to achieve this and address the problem is with solutions like Riverbed Granite, EMC VMAX and EMC VNX storage solutions that enable organizations to improve the use of IT at a lower cost, reduce IT staff and third party costs, cut deployment and upgrade time and dramatically improve data protection and retention practices.”

“Riverbed and EMC work together to provide enterprises with innovative solutions that change the way organizations think about IT,” said Pete Conway, SVP/COO, Enterprise Storage Division, EMC. “Together, the EMC and Riverbed solutions greatly improve data security, backup, and management of branch servers and data and enables organizations to instantly recover, in the case that disaster strikes.”

“The combination of Riverbed Granite with EMC VNX or VMAX solutions enable IT to pull branch data from the edge and manage it centrally while lowering costs, reducing risk and improving security, without sacrificing the performance needed by employees in edge locations,” said John Martin, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Storage Delivery Business Unit, Riverbed.

Riverbed is participating in the EMC World 2013 Conference, taking place May 6-9, at The Venetian, in Las Vegas. At the conference, Riverbed (booth #634) will showcase how Granite extends the benefits of the data center to global branch office, and how market-leading enable enterprises to more cost-effectively manage large-scale data center-to-data center replication. During EMC World, Riverbed will discuss the following:

EMC and Riverbed: Next Generation Branch Consolidation and Protection Solutions: At the Partner Buzz Theatre, on Wednesday, May 8 at 1 PM, Eric Carter, Director of Product Marketing at Riverbed, will discuss how Riverbed Granite extends the benefits of the data center to global branch offices, while delivering local performance access to branch employees. Granite combined with highly scalable and reliable EMC storage arrays, including the EMC VNX unified storage arrays and EMC VMAX enterprise storage arrays, enable organizations to centrally protect and secure data while delivering rapid access over the WAN.

BC/DR and the WAN: At the EMC Select booth, on Wednesday, May 8, 11:30 AM, Josh Dobies, Senior Product Manager, Product Management, at Riverbed, will discuss how market-leading Riverbed Steelhead WAN optimization appliances and innovative storage solutions from EMC transform WAN performance, giving enterprises the power to meet the most stringent recovery point and time objectives (RPO/RTO), while dramatically reducing IT costs.
