Analog and Digital Measurement Technology by bmcm: All-in-one and Multifunctional

The decisive advantage of multifunctional systems is versatility. As they can be used in a flexible way, they are suitable for a wide range of applications. Investment costs can be reduced and quick reacting to new requirements is possible.

BMC Messsysteme GmbH (bmcm) has been considering these aspects when developing their measuring amplifiers, data acquisition systems, and measurement software.

And so the measurement specialist presents his AMS line under the motto “The measurement system adjusting to your needs”. The “all-in-one” measurement systems with integrated 5B amplifier technology are available as a mobile 8-channel tabletop unit (AMS42 series) or as a 16-channel rack system for 19– installation (AMS84 series). A high-end LAN or USB data acquisition unit is optionally integrated.

The real advantage, however, is the modular concept: Depending on the application, suitable 5B measuring amplifiers are mounted on single cassettes featuring different connector types. Those are plugged in the slots of the device for the AMS system to be configured individually according to the customer-s needs. New measuring tasks often require – if at all – only exchanging the 5B module and not the entire measurement system.

A successful concept is worth an upgrade: AMS devices with integrated LAN/USB data acquisition unit feature two 10V-outputs for analog control. Eight non-amplified direct inputs are additionally provided in the AMS42-LAN16f and AMS42-USB now.
Further analog and digital extensions are optionally available.

With the extremely compact USB-OI16, BMC Messsysteme GmbH (bmcm) presents a digital “all-rounder”. All functions of a digital I/O device, an incremental encoder system, and an optocoupler card with semiconductor switches have been combined within approx. 4–x4–.
Digital states are sampled and controlled galvanically isolated with 16 digital inputs (3..32V) and 16 outputs (5..32V) indicated by LEDs.
Two quadrature decoders allow for the connection of a counter (simple or up/down) or incremental encoder to record pulses, frequencies, or positions.
The integrated pulse time measurement function is ideal for measuring in the low-frequency range. Measuring the rotational speed of current generators in hydroelectric power plants or monitoring the rotational vibration of wind power plants is a typical application in this case.

Bmcm introduces the latest developments at this year-s Sensor+Test 2013 in Nuremberg. A free guest ticket is provided on the bmcm website at www.bmcm.de/us
