Balingen, 30th August 2010 – At Fachpack 2010, the international specialist trade fair for packaging and labelling technology in Nuremberg, the system provider Bizerba will present the new _connect.BRAIN software interface from 28th – 30th September. It enables companies to integrate Bizerba peripheral devices uniformly into existing software and processes using just one software (Hall 9, stand 140).
In the industry, production and packaging systems stopped being static systems a while ago. In fact, they are often extended at regular intervals using new soft and hardware components, according to technological progress. In order for the system solutions to work, the elements must be able to grow flexibly with each other.
The _connect.BRAIN software interface enables the host system of a company to communicate with labelling systems and printers in the uniform BX-Net language of Bizerba. “The basic module of the interface can be individually programmed, according to the relevant requirements, and therefore flexibly integrated into the superior IT. Flexibility is an important criterion for many companies“, explains Dieter Conzelmann, Director of Industry Solutions Market at Bizerba.
The software has three significant functions: With the help of the _connect2File data interface, the user can send data and control commands to the devices in the form of ASCII files. Using folder sharing, the whole network can access this data.
The _connect2DB database interface on the other hand enables weight information and other data to be saved on an SQL server or in an Access file. Using an assistant, this data can also be exported in CSV, XLS and MDB formats and further processed at other positions in the system.
With the help of the _connect2SAP interface, the defined data can be transferred to an SAP system and saved there. “The software interface,“ continues Conzelmann, “also creates cross platform connections, so that the users can also communicate with the devices via Windows applications, such as MS Excel or MS Word.“
In programme environments of Windows operating systems it is also possible to transfer data and control commands via a DCOM server. The quick and stable server enables a direct reaction to occurrences in the application programme and the realisation of event controlled processes. Cyclic data retrieval can therefore be omitted.
