FREMONT, CA — (Marketwired) — 04/17/13 — GammaTech Computer Corp., a major international manufacturer and supplier of innovative notebook and tablet computers, is set to introduce its latest Durabook rugged notebook, model SA14. The durable unit, designed to meet the needs of companies in a wide variety of industries, offers a choice of powerful Intel Core processors, long battery life of up to 11 hours, and assorted wireless connectivity for use away from an office setting. It comes standard with a high-definition 14″ LCD display.
“We are excited to introduce the SA14 to our rapidly expanding Durabook line,” Jen Chen, GammaTech president, stated. “Between its many standard features and an array of options, it can easily be adapted to any application or environment. It continues GammaTech-s heritage of offering the best overall value in rugged and fully rugged notebooks and tablets for mobile users.”
The new GammaTech rugged SA14 notebook comes with the powerful option of either an advanced Intel Core i5-3360M or Core i7-3520M processor. It also offers a choice of mobile Intel Express chipsets: QM77 and HM76. Both provide integrated USB 3.0 protocol on a single-chip architecture.
For those jobs that take workers away from the office, the SA14 comes with a variety of wireless connectivity options. Integrated are a Bluetooth 4.0 and WiFi Link 6235 series combo, as well as Intel mini-express Wireless LAN 802.1. Optional choices include GPS support and WWAN module.
Short of a miles-long extension cord, battery life is critical to in-the-field operations. The SA14 comes standard with a 9-cell Lithium Ion Smart Battery pack. When combined with the optional secondary 6-cell Lithium Ion Smart Battery, the unit can function for up to 11 hours.
Security is always a concern when working off-site. The Durabook SA14 boasts security features such as TPM 1.2 data security technology, a Kensington lock connector, Computrace asset management and data protection, and a fingerprint scanner. A SmartCard reader is also available.
The 14″ non-glare HD LCD display has an optional touch panel and a sunlight-readable touch panel with high-brightness enhancement. The SA14 also features an integrated carrying handle for easy transport plus night vision and stealth modes.
Other options available for the SA14 include an AMD Radeon MXM graphics card; Intel vPro technology; and Intel Rapid Start Technology.
The Durabook SA14 is the perfect notebook solution for use in a wide variety of rugged applications, including those found in the military, government, public safety, utilities, oil, gas, distribution, transportation, field service, field sales, insurance, and communications.
The SA14 meets MIL-STD-810G for shock and drop resistance, assuring it can stand up to the rigors of bouncing on rough roads and falls of at least three feet. Additionally, it meets dust and waterproof resistance level IP43 and its backlit keyboard can be customized with waterproof support options.
The GammaTech Durabook SA14 rugged notebook will be available through authorized resellers nationwide and on the GammaTech website in Q2. It has an MSRP starting at $1499 and, as with all GammaTech products, may be customized to customer specifications.
