FREMONT, CA — (Marketwired) — 04/09/13 — AMAX, a leading innovator of High Performance Computing (HPC) and Enterprise IT Computing solutions, today announced that it signed an OEM agreement with IBM to integrate the IBM General Parallel File System (GPFS) with AMAX-s end-to-end high-performance storage computing solutions. Through this agreement, AMAX storage customers will gain access to the most advanced parallel file system in the industry.
GPFS is a high-performance, extremely scalable clustered file system developed by IBM that provides reliable, concurrent high-speed file access to applications running on multiple nodes of clusters. GPFS greatly simplifies cluster file system administration and includes tools capable of managing petabytes of data and billions of files. Invented by IBM Research more than a decade ago, GPFS now forms the basis for some of the world-s most innovative high performance and storage solutions.
“Integrating GPFS with our customized HPC solutions provides AMAX with much more flexibility and a very robust parallel storage file system,” stated James Huang, Product Manager at AMAX. “IBM-s commitment to GPFS and support for multiple storage platforms provides AMAX customers access to a robust, well supported parallel file system.”
GPFS powers many of the world-s largest scientific supercomputers, including many of the supercomputers that populate the Top 500 List of the most powerful supercomputers on the planet, and commercial applications requiring high-speed access to large volumes of data such as digital media, engineering design, business intelligence, financial analytics, seismic data processing, geographic information systems, and scalable file serving. GPFS can be used within Linux, AIX and Microsoft® Windows Server-based clusters or in heterogeneous cluster nodes.
StorMax CFS, powered by GPFS, delivers the proven reliability of the StorMax series storage solutions and provides multi-cluster support, scalability, and a host of essential services to enable the effective management of growing quantities of structured and unstructured data. AMAX is shipping GPFS version 3.5 today, along with StorMax line of proven, enterprise-class . For more information on AMAX products and services, please visit: .
