LAS VEGAS, NV — (Marketwired) — 04/08/13 — , the specialist in securing and enhancing revenue for multi-network, multi-screen digital TV services around the globe, today announced that Venezuelan telecommunications services operator NetUno has deployed on the Verimatrix Video Content Authority (VCAS) architecture to provide revenue security for its popular NetUno TV Digital broadcast service. NetUno is the third largest pay-TV operator in Venezuela, with offices also in Colombia, Panama, and the United States.
NetUno relies on VCAS for DVB to secure its linear content library and associated revenue for broadcast services over its new DVB-C network in Caracas. The cardless conditional access solution enables NetUno to combine standards-based and proven Digital Video Broadcast (DVB) technology for broadcast distribution with future interactivity via IP-based networks using a single security system.
“Choosing a DVB standards-based architecture has helped us achieve better price-performance and improve ARPU,” said Jose Martinez, operations director, NetUno. “Using an open standard such as DVB gives us wide choice of interoperable products. These benefits are further amplified by deploying a robust revenue security solution such as VCAS for DVB, which helps us protect our existing network investments while we prepare for our multi-screen future.”
Network Broadcast served as the solutions supplier for the Caracas project, offering VCAS for DVB in combination with a Blankom DVB head-end. NetUno-s premium content is delivered to its subscribers via SandMartin-s highly cost-effective and HD-enabled DVB-C set top boxes (STB). The integrated solution complements the legacy proprietary solutions already in use and provides a cost-effective upgrade path for NetUno-s remaining analog systems. To date, Verimatrix and Network Broadcast have collaborated on more than 40 DVB projects in South America.
“We are very excited to have once again successfully partnered with Network Broadcast on this important project. Together, we have created a flexible solution that is extremely scalable and will enable NetUno to easily add both multi-screen and hybrid DVB-OTT services in the future,” said Steve Oetegenn, chief sales and marketing officer, Verimatrix.
“We are delighted to have collaborated with Verimatrix to create an ideal foundation for NetUno as they continue their digitalization efforts,” said Alejandro Cubino, director, Network Broadcast. “We look forward to continuing this productive and successful partnership in the future for the continued benefit of pay-TV operators throughout South America.”
Netuno became the fifth Verimatrix VCAS pay-TV operator deployment in Venezuela, which demonstrates the breadth of the company-s content and revenue security solutions across various types of video delivery networks: CANTV (IPTV), Inter (satellite DTH, through TuVes), Sun Channel (B2B via DVB satellite) and TV Zamora (DVB Cable).
Verimatrix is demonstrating its robust revenue security solutions at the NAB Show, April 8-13, 2013 in Las Vegas. Visit booth #SU9105 to learn how the VCAS architecture addresses current and future business and technical challenges.
