Imorgon-s Report Accelerator Now Auto-Populates DEXA Studies Into PowerScribe 360 | Reporting for Improved Accuracy

REDWOOD CITY, CA — (Marketwired) — 04/04/13 — a developer of advanced integrated software solutions for diagnostic imaging, announced a new modality feature for the that further enhances efficiency and reporting accuracy for radiologists. The Imorgon Report Accelerator, which improves the accuracy of dictated reports for ultrasound procedures, is now capable of receiving numeric data from dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) studies and forwarding those values to auto-populate to Nuance PowerScribe® 360 | Reporting, eliminating the need for numeric dictation of measurements. Imorgon will showcase the Report Accelerator and its expanded technologies at the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine ( 2013 Annual Convention, April 6-10, at the New York Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City.

DEXA is most commonly used to diagnose and follow osteoporosis, as it is a scan that is used to measure bone mineral density (BMD). DEXA determines the amount of minerals, such as calcium, and accesses the thickness and strength of the bones.

“We recently installed the Report Accelerator at two of our facilities to help make workflow in ultrasound imaging as smooth and efficient as possible,” said , CRA, administrative director for Main Street Radiology in Queens, New York. “We immediately experienced improvement in our ultrasound reports, which led to a decision to expand its use to include DEXA to improve this tedious reporting process as well. As a result, Report Accelerator has made our practice more efficient and accurate, and our patients are receiving better service because of it.”

During an ultrasound exam, the Imorgon Report Accelerator receives DICOM Structure Report (SR) data from the ultrasound system into the Imorgon server, and the Report Accelerator parses the data and transfers it into the dictation system report templates. Similarly, measurement and calculation information from the DEXA workstation received by the Imorgon Report Accelerator is converted and forwarded to auto populate DEXA report templates within PowerScribe 360 | Reporting. For both types of studies, the auto-population of reports eliminates the need for numeric dictation of measurements and data, resulting in improvements to workflow efficiency, reporting accuracy and patient safety, while saving time for radiologists.

“Main Street Radiology is the first private practice using Report Accelerator to transfer data seamlessly from the ultrasound system into PowerScribe 360 | Reporting,” said , president and chief executive officer, Imorgon. “We are very pleased that they have experienced immediate improvement to their workflow and reporting accuracy for ultrasound studies, and the addition of the DEXA demonstrates another example of the value-added features Imorgon continues to provide for its customers.”

Founded by ultrasound industry veterans, Imorgon is a leading provider of solutions. The company-s founders and senior engineers were key members of the technology team that invented ultrasound PACS in the 1990s. Building on decades of ultrasound expertise, Imorgon is dedicated to producing a scalable software solution that offers highly intuitive functionality and enhances the PACS viewing environment, ensuring ease-of-use and the ability to leverage existing IT and infrastructure investments.
