VIENNA, VA — (Marketwire) — 02/25/13 — , a leading provider of (PSIM) software, today announced that the City of Houston used its PSIM software to manage potential security threats and safety issues associated with this year-s NBA All-Star Weekend events in Houston. Using the VidSys software, the City-s public safety personnel were able to fuse, view and appropriately share with multiple public and private agencies data used to protect visitors and participants throughout the NBA game-related events that took place Feb. 14 – 17.
The VidSys PSIM software integrated the City-s existing cameras and other security devices throughout the downtown area along with video feeds from Police helicopters to provide the City with a complete view of activity in public space around the , and . Security personnel viewed the common operating picture from within four City command centers, including Police and Fire mobile command centers strategically positioned around Houston to provide immediate on-site assistance as needed.
The Houston Downtown Management District also utilized the VidSys software as part of its partnership with the Houston Police Department (HPD) for access to shared public safety cameras within their jurisdiction for monitoring tourist activity and to help manage security and safety situations. The VidSys PSIM software then enabled the City to share information and collaborate in real time with multiple organizations, including the Houston Police Department, Houston Fire Department, Houston Emergency Center-s Office of Emergency Management and 911 Dispatch, and Houston Metro Police.
The PSIM software was introduced by the Mayor-s Office of Public Safety and Homeland Security to be an integral part of the City-s ongoing public safety commitment to provide city partners with greater visibility to shared security assets to enhance the overall safety of residents, visitors and first responders.
