NEW YORK, NY — (Marketwire) — 02/13/13 — Data released today from account management service Manilla.com () reveals new insights regarding how people in relationships manage their finances as a couple. Sixteen percent said they are worried about financial infidelity (secret spending or debt) in their relationship.

Both 86 percent of female respondents and 83 percent of male respondents indicated that they have control of the finances in their relationship.
Younger couples are most likely to argue about money daily and younger couples are more likely to lie about money — 54 percent of respondents ages 18-23 always or sometimes lie about their account balances. This group is also most likely to have accounts their partners are unaware of.
Women are more likely than men to be dishonest when sharing account balances with their partners and nearly 1 in 10 women have a credit card or bank account that her partner is not aware of. Why? The most common reason indicated by respondents was because they-re their own “boss” when it comes to their finances.
One in four respondents have had a previous spouse or partner negatively impact their credit score or finances.
