OTTAWA, ONTARIO — (Marketwire) — 01/22/13 — ReRouteMe is an all-in-one travel planning application, combining Google maps with a whole series of brand-new, advanced routing features. Currently available to residents in Ottawa, Toronto, and many southern Ontario communities, ReRouteMe plans to go Canada-wide. The focus is on reducing travel times based on highly accurate, local, current conditions.
ReRouteMe gathers massive amounts of local data about construction, traffic conditions and weather, which it uses to determine the most optimal route. Members can also save and schedule travel plans, which allows ReRouteMe to monitor their anticipated routes and notify them in advance if anything affects their trip.
This enterprise was co-founded by Abed Saab, CEO, an IT entrepreneur, and Pierre Lermusieaux, COO, a Geographic Information Systems expert, because they see big potential in saving a few minutes.
“Our main differentiating factor is not traffic reporting”, says Saab, “It is proactively working around traffic by keeping our users one step ahead of traffic and for that, we had to build a custom routing engine”.
This Ottawa-based company hopes to do more than save time for commuters. Their goal is to proactively reduce the cities- heavy traffic zones by pre-emptively re-routing travellers to less busy areas. The reduced number of cars trapped on the road will mean whole cities can see savings in energy consumption and gas emissions. This is the key for Jessica Rousseau, ReRouteMe-s Marketing Strategist and UI Designer, who joined the team because she-s passionate about this product and what it can do.
Rousseau states, “The indirect benefits of this application will be reduced gas emissions and saved energy. Hundreds of cars idling in traffic are bad for more than just your peace of mind. We-re already working on the next version, which will have more features for transit users and cyclists, to encourage more people to take bikes rather than cars.”
As well as proactive route planning, the application offers a whole series of built-in services including local gas prices, weather, and news updates about construction and accidents. It allows members to save favourite locations that they visit often for easy recall, and allows users to see city-operated cameras, red-light cameras, parking, and construction as points on the map.
As it grows, Rhexia plans to expand the ReRouteMe application Canada-wide and add new features.
